Eurowest cues.... little insight needed

I've been shooting for quite some time, so I'm pretty familiar with a lot of cues out there and their history. This one stumps me a bit....

I live in Austin, TX, and Euro's were pretty popular here for a while. I believe this was the line produced for a very short time by Bill Stroud after he and Dan Janes split. Please correct me if I am wrong.

I also believe these to be pretty rare cues. I have only seen just a handful of these going around and am thinking of picking up one from the owner of the poolhall I usually go to. Not ever seeing any under $1K, I spouted off an offer of $700, and he said he'd take that. It's a 4pt cue, each point being like a veneer, as the inner wood is the same as a forearm. There is no butt decoration/inlay work at all.

Can anyone shed some light on this and let me know what this cue would be worth?

Found a bit more info, the cue in question is the fourth one from the left, with a darker stain, such as the one to the right of it.

EuroWest

Well I am not 100% sure of the details to EuroWest, but I was told that they were made in Europe but were made to the specs given by Bill Stroud. Something about him being a consultant for the EuroWest Cue company rings a bell.

I can't comment on prices since I have not seen any in my area.

Eurowests were cues made in Europe under Stroud's consultation. They even had their own version of Uni Loc pin. I saw them back in the mid 90's.

I think Eurowests are still made. They are made in Europe, but the maker (German?) was trained by Bill Stroud from JossWest. That's why they are called Eurowest.

I have one and I talked to Bill about 3 months before he passed. He remembered my cue and said a German pro played with it at one time. He thought there were not very many cues built by EuroWest before they went belly up. I tried posting a pic but my pics were too big to post.

I met Markus Funk from Germany of Eurowest Cues in 2005 at the Super Billiards Expo. He granted sponsorships to a few players by Eurowest at that time. One was a 16-year-old Pamela Treadway who won the junior division that year.

I snapped a picture of Marcus Funk and Thorsten Hohmann, both from German, of course, in front of the Pro Arena. Thorsten said they spelled his name wrong on his player's name tag, and he had to have it changed because it said "Holhmann," which in German means a "hollow person" or a nitwit. :p

You can edit image files in Windows Paint. Just go into File -> Image Properties, then reduce the width and height to something smaller like 1024x768.

You can also use image hosting sites like imgur.com to link much larger files, but you have to keep tabs on them to make sure they do not suddenly disappear.

Just send me the Cue and I can get glamour shots quality photos of it for you!

And I can upload them to the site at no additional charge!
