Ever seen Corey Deuel do this?

In the following video Corey Deuel does something I've never seen before. Maybe it's commonplace and I've just never noticed it because videos rarely have such a good angle of the tip to the CB.

When he addresses the CB he "wiggles" the tip of his cue around the spot he'll eventually hit.

I've seen Efren (and others) address the CB low and then hit another spot, or more commonly, see a player address the CB exactly where they intend to hit it. But this is the first time I've seen wiggling around the point of impact.

Is this common or do you think just he did it this once? Do you do anything like this?

I think the video will start at his address of the CB. If not, it's at the 12min, 13sec mark.

You probably just never noticed it before. Not saying everyone does it to some extent but I think it happens a lot. Alex does that. Corey's is just more wiggley from that angle

First few practice strokes are the longer swings to get a feel of the stroke. Then the last few are smaller strokes to the precise area of the ball to hit.

I think Nick Varner used to do that, but I don't really see Deuel "wiggling" his tip here while addressing the cue ball. I just see what I would describe as a very short, focused, deliberate aiming routine before addressing the cue ball, like a lot of very good players do. Maybe his back arm is moving up and down slightly, which gives the appearance of a "wiggling" of the tip, but I wouldn't describe it that way myself.

I have to agree, I think it's his routine on that particular shot, not a 'wiggle'.

I completely agree with PoolBum. I do the same thing, taking longer pre-strokes to get my arm loose and get used to the speed of the stroke, and then I take shorter pre strokes to get ready for my backswing and to know where I need to address the CB.

But if you watch the video closely you'll notice that the wiggle occurs while the cue is NOT moving backwards and forwards -- it is motionless back and forth. But he's moving the tip side to side, actually kind of a semi-circle arc around the eventual point of impact. Maybe he just didn't like the way his arm felt at the moment and wanted to "shake it off" or something.

It looks quite deliberate which is why I thought it might be a normal part of his routine that I'd never noticed.

i only see one adjustment to the left then it looks like the rest is small back and forth kind of ministrokes

This is equivalent to a "waggle" playing golf,

This is equivalent to a "waggle" playing golf, more to "rehearse" the shot before he hits it, but not anything he's intentionally doing for Tip/Cue Ball targeting. He prefers to use a Touch of Outside on this fast "tournament condition" cloth....the balls slide in easily on this type equipment.
