wangerhg said:Taiwanese regard Reyes, Bustamante, Pagulayan and Manalo as the top 4 filipino players (Orcullo's records of WPC and asian tours were not outstanding, so he is still unknown in taiwan). Bustamante has lost to Yang in the money games three times, Pagulayan doesn't dare to gamble with Yang and Manalo hardly played the money games. Reyes is not only one of Yang's idols (another is Chao) but also the only one Yang doesn't have enough confidence to defeat. As for Orcullo, wasn't it a "SLAUGHTER" when he met Yang in "The Color of Money" last month ?![]()
In taiwan, the most important billiard games were LIVE on cable TV, and the most consumers aren't patient to watch 8-ball or snooker or others on TV, besides, Yang's only goal is to win the WPC, so it is unmeaning to say "Yang has an even chance to beat efren in nine ball. But no chance with the other games." (before "The Color of Money", everyone here said: "Yang has no chance", but then.....what happened? A "SLAUGHTER" ? In 2001 asian game, everyone also said Hsia had no chance to beat Reyes in 8-ball, but Hsia eliminated The Magician and win the champion finallySo did Wu in 2005 World 8-ball Championship - unbelievable, it was Wu's first time to play 8-ball game
) or "Yang seems contented playing in Asia rather than in the U.S. or Europe." etc.

Drew said:I don't know about you guys, but when somebody comes to my town looking for me, I can be pretty certain that this guy's better than me...you don't just call people out unless you've got the advantage (or you're a fool). I'm not sure which is the case here, but don't forget that Orcullo beats Efren playing 9-ball. And Yang has beaten them both before. I think I like Yang in a long 9 or 10 ball match.
On a side note: Just wanted to congratulate Shane on his performance in Vegas. Not many guys can beat Orcullo.
Hail Mary Shot said:Are you familiar with the saying "can lightning strike twice?" in pool, a single matchup doesn't mean total domination of the other player. you might say that the first match was what you call as a slaughter, but then what if they were to meet again 5 more times and in those matches, Orcullo wins all of those matches regardless of the score. would you call that as luck on the part of Orcullo for winning those matches if ever?![]()
Sprite said:But the problem is would Orcullo want to play for 5 more times?![]()
I doubt....
Hail Mary Shot said:Maybe You should ask Yang that question. He does in fact the one who said he wants to play Efren rather than Orcullo.![]()
Sprite said:You are right. Who would want to play with an easily beaten player.![]()

As long as there is a stakehorse/sponsor why won't he?Sprite said:But the problem is would Orcullo want to play for 5 more times?![]()

cuycuy said:Lol. I think it's the other way around.
The Taiwanese didn't bring stake money in the Yang-Orcullo clash for one. Yang also has more to lose fighting Dennis Orcullo and losing.
$10,000 is peanuts for their type. How about we raise the bar a little and make a series out of it.
