Example of a feel shot

If you really want to prove that shooting from this position is a viable play in a real game, set it up and record it. Shoot that out 20 times in a row and see how many times you get out from there. Be sure to post it online so we can witness your pool prowess first hand.

Also, Black-balled is right, no pro will ever shoot your shot in a serious game because they like to win...

We should keep this thread in a vault or something so that some time in the future when we are asked the question," What is a ' NIT'?" the questioner can be referred back her as a reference point and a introduction to the kingdom
of NITDOM.

Now Duckie, I'm not saying that you are a NIT. Only that you 're sounding quite NITTISH .That is one of the 4 warning signs that a pool player is entering the kingdom of NITDOM. They are:

1) Does he sound like a NIT?

2) Does he walk like a NIT?

3) Does he smell like a NIT?

4) Does he look like a NIT?

Answer any 3 in the positive ,well, then ,by golly, you probably have yourself a duck! Oops. I meant a NIT. Sorry.

Anyway Duckie, humble up. Most of the boy and girls on this Forum could eat you for breakfast on a green felt tablecloth.:rotflmao1:

Here's a September 2008 thread about "nurse" shots. I don't think the method described there really applies to a kiss shot from this angle - maybe this isn't the system you're referring to...

http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=120965&highlight=nurse

And here's a video posted in that thread demonstrating the shot:

i'm no one pocket guru or anything but i'm betting that double kiss shot isn't the right shot and win't go that easy into tighter pockets

Prove it. Show me.

Do not make statements like this without some proof. It does no one any good.

Oh, I must have known how to aim since I made this shot. It knowing the interaction of balls, spins and rails. It was really a carom with the 11 coming back off the 8 into the corner pocket. It was also the transfer of spin that also helped the 11 to go into the corner.

I've done nurse shots, but this was not one.

Remember on Family Guy when Brian's stupid girlfriend Jillian calls him up and they have the following conversation:

Jillian: "Brian, how do I know if I'm Jewish?"
Brian: "Are you Jewish?"
Jillian: "No."
Brain: "Well there you go."
Jillian: "Oh! Thanks so much!"

So lets try this with your shot. Did you make the shot? Then there is a way to do it. You aim for the spot that makes the shot happen. That is what you did. You say it was feel. I say you guessed where to aim, and guessed right. You had a subconscious sense of what would happen, and that by definition (it happened) can be explained. Hard to picture how that isn't obvious...

It was more of a squezze type shot/kiss shot. You have to know alot about spin, how balls work when on the rail.

It's a feel shot because (I hate to use this term but) there is no aiming system that can be applied to this shot.

Also, feel came into play in order to know how to stroke the shot in order to get the right amount of spin and the right about of speed to place the balls in a area not to far apart from each other.

Feel played a part in that I knew I could do it. I didn't think about how to make the shot. I just knew what I wanted to do and did it. I empited my mind and just shot.

Unless you practice this shot, it is totally a feel shot as is any shot you have never practiced or seen before.

With all due respect, this couldn't be more false.

I practice them just for this reason.

So which is it? Did you practice the shot? If so you have contradicted your first statement, which implies that practicing it prevents it from being a feel shot. If you didn't practice it, you contradicted the second statement, which says that you practice it. Can't have it both ways lol:grin:

I "feel" like a fool whenever I put myself into entirely preventable situations like this..

so lemme get this straight.. your opponent runs out and misses on the 8..

so you have a full table of stripes and only 1 ball to hide him from.. you have tons of choices and options...

and yet you decide to leave yourself this as your key ball???

looking at this thread and your other thread I must say...

I hope I draw you in a tourney.. in fact I hope I draw you in every tourney I ever play in..

ok sarcasm off...

you really need work planning your patterns... good players don't shoot the hard shots...because they don't leave themselves hard shots..

play safe off of your problem balls until you don't have any... then run out..

here is a good practice game for you..

break a rack of 8-ball

if you make a ball you get to choose the group you want if you don't make a ball... flip a coin heads you are solids, tails you are stripes..remove the other suit from the table,

Now decide your end pattern pick a pocket for the 8 ball and the 2 balls that give you the easiest route to that shot.... remove the rest of your balls. take ball in hand and run out..

if you can do that 5 times in a row then do the 8 plus 3 balls... then 4 ect.. up till 7.. once you are running 7 and out with an open table and none of the opponents balls in the way.. you have reached par..

once you can do that 5 times in a row.. shoot me a PM and I'll give you a way to practice moving the furniture to set up nice run outs..

circus shots are for clowns:cool:
