excalibur cue

No way. If you care a lot about how a cue looks, you must calculate the importance of a particular model. I've hit a couple balls with a couple guys's excallibur cues and I hated it. Felt cheap and played terrible in my opinion. Even the guy whose cue it was started playing off the wall with house cues with terrible tips instead of using his excalibur. Preference is subjective, but I'm sure many would agree that the hit, playability, finish, and resale value of a Pechauer is great. You can pick up a sweet Pechauer SE-1 at Seyberts.com for 164 bucks! I think it's easily the best value out there and it plays no different than their 1000 dollar cues, it just doesn't have the inlays. Seyberts is a pleasure to deal with as well. I cannot recommend them enough. Good luck

My girlfriend has a pechauer and it's sweet. I have a few cues that are fine but I just thought it would be nice to have a cueswith some history behind it(guy said it was from the 70s). I didn't know if it was legit that all.

Not so bad

Are these cues any good? Are they all the cuetech kind or was there an older brand called excalibur? There is an old vintage one for sale and I wonder if it's worth the trip to check it out.

I got one as part of a package about six years ago. It was a sneaky, wood to wood. I thought it played OK for a starter cue, and actually worked rather well as a breaker (with one of those anti-vibration things on the butt). I sold it to a friend for $50. He and his son both used it as a breaker, and as a back-up shooter on occasion, till it was stolen.

Early 70's?! LOL! The seller has been duped, is mistaken, or is lying.

I have seen this model before. Probably among the nicer Excaliburs you will find. I believe those are real splices and inlays, not stickers as another poster said.

The cue might be worth $30 or so to the person who wants one. With a good shaft there is no reason it can't be a decent shooter as long as the butt is straight and solid.

If he really had a good shaft made it would be worth more...but NO WAY anything near what he is asking.

Excalibur cues

This brand was made up in China for J & S Sales (wholesale Co.out of N.Y. which also started Cuetec, now owned by Imperial International Co.). This brand still exists and has always been an inexpensive import. A used fancy one probably would not sell over $100 max.
F.Y.I.
PS: The cue could be that old!

So these have been around since the 70s?

If the guy really did all that work, the cost to do is probably close to $250, but no clue why he'd do it on such a cheap stick. New wrap is about $50, new shaft from a "custom" maker is at least $100, new joint is probably another $50.

Reminds me of people taking a $3,000 civic and putting in $10,000 worth of mods to it. It's probalby worth $6,000 after the put in 10k into it.

I do not know, but I would assume this one is not a Chinese import.

That rubber bumper, and the big (3/8x10?) pin with wooden threads reminds me of the older vintage Viking cues.

Yes, it is a Viking made cue.

Some of the Excalibur cues were made by viking. They also made some Lou Butera branded cues.

That cue isn't worth near what they want. Maybe half that since it is a Viking.

Thanks. I thought it might be a Viking. Yeah, probably still not worth more then $75. The cue looked interesting to me though.

The cue market seems to have inflated (if that is the right word) a lot in recent years. These vintage cues are selling for a lot more money (then they may be worth) at auction.
