F/S Carbide sanding mandrel set

I had a set of Sanding mandrels made 0.840" and 0.855" for the radial pin. I am no longer using the radial pin and am looking to sell the existing mandrels and pins I have left. I want $450 for the 4 pins and mandrels. The mandrels are the ones posted on http://www.rocketcues.com/tools/tools.htm
They were ony used a couple of times and will more than likely outlast me. These are the real deal. The price is solid as are the pieces.
I am currently using a different pin and these will no longer work.

Depending on the wall thickness of the carbide, you could have these O.D. ground to about any reasonable diameter you needed.

Too bad not 3/8-10. I'm in the market for a high quality set of carbide sanding mandrels. Anybody know who's doing the best sets nowadays? And how many cues do these things last before becoming inaccurate?

I get them made. They will last a long long time. You tell me what thread pitch and length pilot whatever. The sanding dia and finishing dia. 450$ a set.

I only want finish size set. How many two shaft cues can I get from a set before things begin to go funky? I made a trial set from SS joint collars, to experiment with the concept before dumping the cash on a carbide set. I was pleasantly surprised with the results but SS joint collars lose material pretty quickly with wet sanding. I don't mind paying for something that will get good use, but i'd like to have an idea before I buy. Thanks

I really don't know. They will last a long time. I have done 50 shafts on a set and have not been able to measure the difference if that helps.

I would think they would be good for a few thousand with little stock removal. When I am bringing the finish back down to specks I never use anything coarser than 800 and usually start with 1200 grit. I've got a set that I made and a set I had made and both sets are the same as when I purchased them. Both sets that I have, have two pieces, a male and a female that are independent of each other. I don't really trust the one piece ones as it is to hard to determine if the they are concentric with each other. When the pieces are independent, they can be screwed together to feel the fit. I was going to buy a few sets of hardened steel ones at the DCC that were one piece, for occasional use on re-finishing others cues but I tried screwing a number of them together and you could feel that that never lined up quite right. They, of coarse, are a waste of time if not perfect.

Thanks, Dick & John. I was just wondering if it were going to be a worth-while investment. It would be a huge time saver for me if they last a while, which looks like they will. Thanks again

these are not carbide they are hardened but at $60.00 you get both sides
these are hardened then ground to size even if you relaced one every few years your still way ahead of the game .

Brianna, It is getting to be a bit annoying the way you jump in and knock other peoples action.
You have been told about this before.
Rocket posted this thread trying to sell his used mandrels and you jump in and try to knock his sale with your cheaper set.
If you want to sell some mandrels then start another thread ... dont steal this one.

I have four of your sets and I am not happy with them at all.
First off they were not the size I ordered and none of them are exactly the same size.
I had to tap out the 3/8 X 10 threaded hole on one of them as it would not screw onto a joint pin properly.

I got what I paid for ... now I need to buy a real set of sanding mandrels.

If you had not busted this thread I would never have posted this so live and learn.

What's the od concentricity tolerance on those?

I have two with 3/8 x 10 pins and it is just like Dick said in his post in this thread "I don't really trust the one piece ones as it is to hard to determine if the they are concentric with each other".

Screw them together and you can feel the offset.
They are not properly centered so I would guess the tolerance is considerable.
But like I said earlier, you get what you pay for.

You Should Have Called If There Was A Problem I Love Poeple That Never Bring Things Up Then All Of A Sudden There Slamming Someone
For Know Reason Do You Really Think Carbide Is That Much Better If Your Using This Properly They Will Last A Lifetime You Should Be Close To Finish When These Are Used And Just Feather It In To Size Theres Know Reason To Wear Out Hardened Steel, Carbides A Myth Not Really Needed If Your Using The Product As Should Be.

What was your other reply?
Kiss my Ass or something like that?
Cute ... very cute.
It reflects your entire business attitude.

I called you several times but all I got was a run around.
It was a $180 mistake that will never be made again.

While we are at it the full spliced butt you sent me was way to small to make a cue with ... it is in the scrap bin.
The piece of shaft wood that came with it was OK.
Thank goodness I only ordered one of them.

You think I would ever order anything from a hack like you again?

and my attitude is very very good when dealing with a civilized human
if you had a problem i would have gladly fixed it i personally dont think you did but if you did you need tell me in order to fix it
