i really dont know what either one of these are worth so if anyone does i`d appreciate some feed back on them or you can make an offer. the meucci was my player for about a year then i quit playing for about 20 years to start a business & do the family thing, i`m the second owner so i`m not real sure what year it was made. since it hasn't seen any play in 20 years it`s in pretty good shape for its age, the shafts are 12.75 & 12.80 i dont have a scale & dont remember but i`d say it weighs 19.5 - 20.0, you can see a little light under the shafts when you roll it but both shafts are pretty straight. the dots & diamonds are a little raised above the surface i guess from age.
the prather only has one shaft 12.75 & there is a wobble in the joint, otherwise in very good condition, i`d say it weighs 19.0 - 19.5. you can p.m me with any questions or offers.

thanks,

The Meucci is a model 95-17, a remake of the popular Meucci Oldie Series O-1. Value is whatever someone will pay. Ebay is always a good site for these cues. The Oldie would bring a very good return, the 95-17, not so much so.

How much movement is in the Prather at the joint? Without the shaft attached, how much does the joint come off the table when rolled?

Honestly, it is much easier to sell a cue if YOU establish what the cue is "worth" to you, and set a price on them. Any offers that you get on two older production cues, especially on the one with the roll at the joint, may not be what you are expecting.

prather

thanks joe, i appreciate the info, the wobble on the prather is 1/16 of an inch, not too terrible i guess but certainly noticeable, although it is a decent playing cue with nice wood & points. i really wasnt expecting much for it maybe $300 if i had to guess what it`s worth.

meucci

i have new info on the meucci,, i was informed by a long time meucci collector how to determine if this is an original cue & after some conversation & checking out the cue i`m quite sure it is an original cue, he valued it at about $550 so with that determined i will put an asking price on it of $500 shipped in the con u.s.

It's not an original.....

Unfortunately, your Meucci friend is mistaken :frown:

As Bama stated earlier this cue is a 95-17 and won't bring anything close to $500, IMHO ~ maybe on EBAY!?

Here is a pristine example of an OL-1 which did bring $500+

You'll notice the difference in the ringwork on the joint and the different buttcap logos

More info and pics of this OL-1 here >>> http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=258589

I love these Meuccis....GLWS

If your friend is a Meucci "collector", I wouldn't put much trust in his opinion.

Take a look at Ken's pix above. While there are other differences as Ken stated, the logo is a dead giveaway. The Meucci Oldie-1 has the block "MEUCCI ORIGINALS" on the butt, not the script "Meucci". Meucci went to the script logo in approximately 1990. Here is a link to the entire 95 Meucci cue series. The 95-17 is on the lower left of the second pic.

I might also recommend that the collector you spoke to invest in a copy of the Blue Book of Pool Cues:

Best thing you can do, is cut your friend a 'deal' and let him have the meucci for $475! Def not an original.

If the shafts do not have a red or black dot on them I would estimate the being made between , 1991 and 95 . Cue looks to have the German silver joint and be in nice condition . The cue krbsailing is showing used to be mine . I agree the cue should sell for $250 to 400 tops . GLWS Jim

It's a timeless design. I want one eventually...but I want an Original....

Why is everybody talking about the Meucci and ignoring the Prather?

Is there a dated weight bolt in the Prather? That's a nice cue.

.

prather

no weight bolt but its signed & dated prather "96" above the wrap, make me a fair offer & its yours

prather

i`d do $300 on the prather shipped in the u.s., thats got to be a steal!!!
