The little motor is rated at 6,000 rpms (no laod i'm sure). The gear ratio is approx 4 to 1 so the headstock would be turning at about 1,250 to 1,500 rpms max (no load).

A couple of folks have asked about getting a larger motor. I can replace the motor and controls shown in the original post with the 1/2 hp reversable rotation, full variable speed motor which also includes the plug-in foot control. $473.00 + S&H Total.

Nice and Simple....Do you have a rear steady rest for doing tips?

I don't think this machine has the ability to fit the cross slide, but no problem for him to put a steady rest with a 3 or 4 jaw chuck on it. Todd's got some great machines, great ideas and can pretty much put together something to meet your needs! Just send him a PM! Great guy to do business with and the machines work great and the parts are the same as the others- Taig!

is that not the same thing that everybody and his brother is selling. They all buy Taig off the shelf stuff and that act like they are inventors. It's very fuuny.

yah, but this guy actually takes care of business and is more than welcome here imo...also, doesnt act like an inventor, and has some non taig parts that he designs and builds for folks.

FYI, you can't even buy a stock foot long taig lathe for what he is selling this one for, so he is offering more than fair pricing on his stuff. Hopefully nobody will see these last two posts as the OP doesnt deserve any negativity

Just to let you know the only stock taig parts are the head stock, 3 jaw chuck and the tail stock. The dove tail bed he has to have made because taig wont sell the extruded beds to anyone but Chris Hightower. Tods not trying to reinvent the wheel he is just offering a good product at a very fair price IMHO.

I suppose a person could do tips free hand. but that is not what this rig is for. You may want to look at something like one of these.

Basic "beginner"... Good http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=173278

Basic with 4 ft bed... Better http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=182197

Professional... Best http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=175012

Felt the need to put in my $.02. I have dealt with Todd on 2 occasions and both were flawless and effortless transactions. Last item, I sent Paypal on Friday and my item was in my hands Monday morning before 9:00 in perfect condition. What more could I ask for?
Thanks a million Todd
