Falcon poolmaking video

I think It's been on TV before. A show called "How Things Are Made" Or something like that. It's a pretty cool show. They show different manufacturing plants, and their operations.:) Greg

Yup.
That doughnut shaped cutter which took the handle square to round in one pass is nuts. Of course it's probably crooked.:D

The show is called "How It's Made"...and airs pretty regularly on several of the Discovery Network's different channels.

I remember the kid wanting to watch the pool cues being made, and the ol' man watching too. When the segment was done, the ol' man exclaims: "Is that all there is to it? I thought it there was more to it than that!"

It was all I could do NOT to b*tch-slap him!!

Yeah, That's the show. My daughter even loves to watch that show with me sometimes. The old lady Likes it too. BTW her name is Lisa. I have a teamate with the same name also.

They do make it look easy in the video to the average person, but There were alot of things I just wouldn't do. Gotta love the equipment they were sporting though.

Joey, They did take alot of meat off in one pass If I remember correctly. Did you notice the fits and all the black dye by any chance?:)

Just another example that you get what you pay for and all good things take time.

You mean the 'trade secret' epoxy with black dye? :D
My father said the same thing about how easy it was. The machines were very cool, I want the sprayer machine for christmas.

They didn't mention wood seasoning and several passes.

Meucci used to have a video on their web site, showing the same machine, turning a square to round, in one pass...JER

In all fairness to Falcon, it would make for some pretty boring TV if they showed the wood being cut over several passes. Especially to the general public.

I have an old Falcon (10-12 years old) that is still perfectly straight. In fact, the only thing not still straight on the cue is the extra shaft that came with it which is a predator.

Nice vid. Anyone have any they made? Old DVD's they wouldn't mind copying and mailing to good ole ICBM?

Yeah, they probably needed to speed it up for the video. I don't really believe they would turn that fast, even some of the better imports get around 5 turns. They were probably just showing off their machines:D It would be a sad thing if they did get turned that fast, but I seriously dought that.;) Still it makes me like the equipment they use, and it sure seemed to have no problem turning down in one pass, so it should have no problem making several lighter cuts.:)

i dont the dowling machine is the problem.

there are a few guys that use that method turning square into round

however cutting the tapper in one pass was crazy.

Schmelke turns theirs pretty quickly. I don't know if it's in one pass or not but on their Trapper blanks, that most cue makers use for Trappers, if they don't have what I want in stock when ordering, it usually only takes a couple of days before they make it.

Yeah, this is a nice video. Those CNC machines are amazing, unfortunately they're no longer in Canada. I believe each CNC manchine was custom made specifically for cues and cost about $150,000 each. It's amazing to watch these machine in action!

We picked up a few high end machine for them that work amazing including the doweling machine!! Anyone interested?

Duc.
