Thanks for the info. Would you know why some matches in the Platnium divisions would have an opponent that is TBA? I thought there was a registration deadline and everyone would already be entered.

TBA's have always been built into every tournament to allow the emergency addition or shifting of an entry from one group to another. There are many reasons why this could happen, but one obvious reason this year is the sudden increase or decrease in a player's Fargo rate. It's not a deadline issue.
 
This is related to the BCAPL Nationals but not Fargo ratings so excuse me if this should have been a new post.

Does anyone know if the tournament will be using the latest version of Cyclop Balls?
I got a new set and it has a single large red dot on the cueball, about the size of a Measle ball dot.
From what I can tell doing some online research it seems this may be the 3rd generation.

Yes the new cue ball with the large red dot will be used at the Nationals.

They save the TBA for their late entries. They love late entries because they clean up on the fees... Plus, when they don't add those entry fees to the prize fund, goes straight in their pocket. Kinda low imo.

I believe this is incorrect. While some divisions accept on-the-fly entries, mixed singles divisions do not. That is any players who entered after the deadline but before the final cutoff are already on the bracket, and no new players can sign up now.

So why have TBAs if entries are closed? I myself am one example. I fell at the top of the gold and just requested I be bumped to platinum. So I went into a TBA slot. Had that slot been labeled "bye," then my opponent might have slept through the match if he didn't happen to check the chart again.

Just going by what I was told by the griff a few years ago. I'm sure I misheard though.

I thought it was to hold for players that CSI thought were in the wrong divisions or that may have been placed in the wrong divisions accidentally.

Example a few days ago when I looked at the Silver division I saw a few players with ratings higher than the cut off of 524.
Interesting that at this moment at least one of them does not show up in either silver, gold or platinum division listings.
