FargoRate for BCA Nationals?

I know I cringe when I hear stories like yours because I know how much of the complicated issue of timing and transition depends on things on FargoRate's plate :-(

A transition like this has a lot of moving parts, and while I can't speak for CSI, I would like to say I hope people understand that many people at CSI and at FargoRate are working very hard and are balancing a number of different considerations. Though we passionately believe what we are doing is moving pool forward in a major way, we are aware the transition won't be seamless.

In your particular case, it appears the guidelines for a Platinum Division team allow you to add any BCAPL sanctioned player from the state of California. I know you four are accustomed to playing together as a four-member team. But perhaps one of you knows a player from elsewhere in the state who would enjoy joining your team?

I really hope people will go out there and work to get their leagues sanctioned with the BCAPL and then experience this event. There is a lot of very cool stuff coming. Sanctioned leagues will be the first to experience the new league management software with league data impacting your Fargo Rating on a daily basis!

I do understand and very good reply, but in response to your last paragraph.

I have been telling deaf ears for years that we need a regional event to generate more interest. We (CA.) have 38Mil population and no regional? We had to go this past year to Arizona which is farther then Vegas. Also Washington State has one. Both have a 6 Mil population. On top of that the Reno event is now gone. We are by far the most populated state so I don't get it. Just look how much the Mezz Tour is taken off in just its second season.

Sorry you didn't get a response but this is the first we heard of this email. But there is a solution. Hopefully this will help you out. BTW-all of this info is on the entry forms. (www.playcsipool.com)

The total of 5 players (in the platinum division) cannot exceed 3250 (650 average).

If a couple of your players are 'strong' and are upwards of 700, you would need a lower rated player to keep with the 3250 limit.

A 5 person team only needs 2 original players from the same league. The other 3 only have to be qualified, (8 weeks league play) BUT THE OTHER 3 CAN COME FROM ANY LEAGUE IN THE STATE.

That is important because now you can easily find someone of the required skill level and wanting to go.

Problem solved, I hope.

Hi Mark -

Thanks for the reply. Finding another good player in the state that a) doesn't already have a team or b) is comfortable agreeing to playing on a team with whom they don't know.

Furthermore, the issue is CSi created a problem that wasn't there in the first place and leaving the players to solve it. Had this been announced earlier, no problem at all.

Regards,

Phil

On your announcement on the main page it says nobody over 720 can play in the amateur events..does this apply to the teams as well? I know in the past you can have grandmaster on a team. If you have a 740 but meet the limit is this acceptable?

Mark (Saint1) speaks from years of experience running our local League
and also Cal-State League out of Sacremento. A Regional in the greater San
Francisco / Sacramento area would be welcomed and well attended.

Regional in CA

We would love to do a regional in California. Need some facilities that are affordable. Need at least 10,000 sq feet (40 tables) - a way to hang lights, and hopefully a hotel.

Getting some added money would be a goal - but without a casino, that can be hard.

If the costs are in line. We can do that. But it is always much harder than it seems. A regional will not work out unless it can attract 4-500 players minimum.

There are many reasons why it wasn't adviseable to wait an additional year- but the forums are just not the place to address all the unique questions.

We are doing the best we can- every league event has the same problem - players not playing in the proper division. FargoRate will impr I've that immediately, and really work well as we get more and more data.

So this year will already be an improvement over previous years. The obvious goal is to have similarly skilled players playing each other. And it is happening. This was all done for the future. Embrace it, it will be better for the game.
