Fast Eddies Olhausen 9-Ball tour March 8-9

Hey Lewis............I won't be able to make this one, and looks like I will more than likely miss Waco too!

I guess we will shoot for the one in April! LOL

No auction in Houston.

Many have called, e-mailed, and pm'd me inquiring about this and yes, it is true. There will be no player auction in Houston on March 8-9. I will post the detais about this and how it came to be and hopefully answer all questions. I apologize to all for this.

You have nothing to apologize for, Lewis.

BTW, just made plans to come down to this event with Amanda! So, I'll see you soon for my hug. :)

IS this at all the stops or just Houston?

Hi Ironman,

I was told there is a rumor that the Calcutta is going to become a victim of the TABC (SP?)/Attorney General and that if that happens, this tournament will slowly fizzle due to lack of participation other than local players.

Any truth in that?

I suppose you bring a good point, so, let's talk about it.
I don't think it will fizzle and really can"t think of reason why it should. After all, how many of the players were really active in the auction. The answer is very, bery few. A huge percentage of the bidding came from people not even involved in the tournament at all. They made up probably 80% of the money in the weekend.

For those outsiders who were involved, I feel very badly for and I"m sure we will lose some of them and I've developed a good relationship with some and hope we remain close.

For me, it is sad that this has happened, but, it has and there is not much that can be done about it now. I haverecievedcountless calls from thoseinquiring as to who may have done this. I THINK I Know, but I'm not sure and until I do know I will take that information to the grave. Confronting this person andgoing public with this will no good to anyone. If however, I had solid proof, I would confront him myself.

The good side is that we will begin play app. two hours earlier on Saturday and there will not be an hour long delay on Sunday. It also saves me a bunch on printer ink.LOL.

Theplayers finishing in the money who also sold for high amounts rarely bought any part of themselves anyway. Many of the higher calibur players ahvenever liked auctions and have frequently "Knocked" them anyway.

The one it hurts most finacially is us, PKL Promotions. This is not cheap to administrate as there are many hidden costs we never mention and we aren't the types to bellyache about that anyway.

Paul and I put this together because we have spent most of our lives involved in or around pool and thought it would be a great thing to do in Texas. It has time costs us dearly, and we anticipated that. That's okay because the rewards have payed off. Each and every event we have conducted over the past 5 years has been extremely competitive and they have become increasingly hard towin. That to me proves that the level of play has risen dramaticly over the past five years.

This tour and the tournaments have been the calling card, not the auction. This Tour was not put together just to facilitate an Auction. It is my hope and prayer that the players will continue to support the Tour.

Obstacle pop up all the time in life and to freak about them has never been my way and I'm not freaking about this. I'm working on a solution.

I'm sorry, but to answer you're first quesion, the auctions, are cancelled at all events,,,,,UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE>

Lewis and Paul, I will continue to support the tour by playing in the events whenever possible, and believe that the overwhelming majority of the other players will continue to do so also. The calcutta was just a small part of the great experience that is had by anyone that plays or spectates at your very well run and fun events. Keep up the good work, and thanks for all that you do!

3rd time not a charm
I have stayed here 3 times and have never been asked if I need any toiletries as other places have. When I was ready to shower the first 2 times I found out there was no shampoo and only 1 bar of soap for the bathroom and kitchen. The 3rd time I had learned my lesson and upon checkin asked for shampoo. The staff never seemed very accomodating. I felt as if I was interupting something else they would rather be doing. I was never asked if I had a preference for 1, 2 or 3rd floor. When ever I asked they did not have what I wanted available. On one evening it was cold that night and when I turned on the heater it set of the smoke detector in the room so I slept without heat that night. Also wish they had a couch or love seat in the room. All they have are chairs. Otherwise the place seemed reasonably clean.

Great Room for the Money
This was our 1st time to stay in this particular hotel. Everything was exceptionally clean and it was so handy to have the kitchenette to use. The people were very friendly. We plan on using Sun Suites hotel if we get to go on our vacation to Charlotte NC.

It Rock!
Clean, clean, clean..Did I say clean? Exceeded my expectations which are typically high...It was super quiet for being close to I-45...Awesome experience. Laundry facilities on premises...A bit pricy...but who does laundry on vacation...About 4.00 total to wash and dry....

Great room for the money
This hotel was definitely a great room for how much I paid for it. It has a kitchenette, it was very quiet outside and in the surrounding area, it was conveniently located near a vast array of restaurants and entertainment spots such as a movie theatre and pool halls, and you can access it right off the freeway.

Customer service is average, but had to ask for towels, etc. (which were said to be only available upon request).
