favorite male and female player and why?

Man: Efren Reyes, simply the most fascinating player ever to watch!

Woman: Efren in drag --- Jeanette Lee if we can't get Efren to do it.

hehe...efren in drag....don't think i'd want to see that one.

favorite male player: Efren
favorite female player: Allison

don't know if alex can be counted as an up-and-comer, having already won the WPC, but yeah, I'd vote for him.

Efren Reyes and Kelly Fisher. Two equally brilliant players. Nice people too.

Yeah, I'm really looking forward to watching Kelly Fisher play in Peoria. Kim and Tiffany did introduce me to Kelly in Vegas, but I've yet to watch Kelly compete, and I know I'm in for a treat.

Efren Reyes - Though maybe no longer "the best", he can still play position better than anybody, can still out-kick anybody, and instead of getting pissed on those rare occasions when he screws up he pulls at his collar and scratches his head. :)

Alison Fisher - Because she is the best female player out there today if not of all time, she is so very self-composed and reserved.

Koop, sorry to break the string of Air Force consistency, but then again I hated every day I spent in the service (well maybe not the day I drove out the gate with my honerable discharge).

The most entertaining male player has to be Earl. Love him or hate him, I have to watch him play and see what kind of antics he will come up with next. That doesn't make him my favorite player, but it does make him my favorite to watch.
As far as female players go, I guess my favorite would have to be Ga Young Kim. After her performance at last years open (I really felt for her, somehow it made her more "human" ) and this years open, I think she is the next big thing.
As far as the up and comers, I think the player on the WPBA to watch for is Janet Atwell from Abingdon, Virginia. (Go Janet!!!) I have played her many times and she is the epitomy of sportsmanship and grace under pressure.

Hey Jim,

I was from 89 to 95. I was stationed at Griffiss AFB in NY and when they put it on the blocks I figured it was time for me to get out.

Nice thing is the Joss Finale, being held at the Turning Stone is only about 15 minutes from my old base. Should be fun.

I'm right handed, but play left handed. So I'm only in my right mind, when I'm at the table :D ! Sounds like a good excuse to play pool.

Jim

I'm also right handed but I shoot left handed, same as Mike Sigel.

I love all the greats, but the ones that stick out for me are Allison and Karen for the females, because they are so fundamentally sound, rock solid in the their mechanics, specially Allison. She is a great champion, she doesn't let her mistakes bother her, and lets them go right away. She teaches, and what else can i say she is great at what she does. On the male side, Niels Feijen. Nerves of Steel, and another fundamentally sound player. He practices everyday, does everything from drills to the breaks, my hero. Cole 'TheConArtist'

Niels is my favorite player too. He does practice harder than any player I've ever seen. I've been around him a lot durning gambling and tournaments. I've seen him lose at both gambling and tounaments before but what I like about him is he will never beat himself and has no dog in him. To beat him you simply have to out play him which is way easier said than done.

He gambles $100 sets with Efren almost every chance he gets. Last year or the year before in Vegas at the Cue Club I watched him play Efren races to 5 rotation, which is Efren's best game, for $100 a set. Niels plays him these games to learn new shots. Niels keeps a journal by his seat and every time Efren hits a shot that Niels has never seen, or just a different way of playing shape, Niels writes it down in his journal to practice later. When they were done, Niels ran up to me and said I just played 3 sets of rotation with Efren, I learned 5 new shots and made $300 dollars.

Hey amc4, didn't Grady tell Corey Deuel to do the same thing years ago? On a tape, Grady said Corey asked him what to do to take his game to the next level and Grady responded "Play Efren as much as you can". I think it was the same game, 100 dollar rotation.

LOL. Efren said in an interview that he learns new shots by watching bangers play. How good is Niels going to get if he learns new shots by watching Efren.

You need to write a book of put or put out a tape with all the action stories. I am sure you have lots of them and lots of access to them. I'll buy the first one.

Yes he did, and Corey will still do this today. If you ever get a chance you guys should step up and play Efren some. For how good he is you would think it would take thousands of dollars for him to get out of his chair to play you but almost every tournament I see him at I get him to play me $50 sets. I've played him almost all the games, 9-ball, rotation, one pocket and 8-ball. I was most impressed by his 8-ball game. He broke and ran 7 racks on me and each one looked like it was going to be a safty game. A bunch of times it looked like he had the perfect angle to break out the big cluster of balls in the middle of the table but he just picked them out one by one. I've never seen anyone play that way before and it was unbelievable. I usually lose about $100 to Efren and $50 or a $100 to Francisco. For the value I feel it's the best money I ever spent. It is easier to get Efren up to the table than Francisco, but jump on the chance if you ever get it. I see Mika all the time jump up to play Efren $20 games of one pocket just to learn. That's what's cool about Efren, he just likes to play, anywhere from $50 a set, $20 a game or for $50,000 plus. I would say if your a pool player playing Efren is something you must do if you get the chance because one day there won't be that chance to play the greatest player that ever lived.

I went in July of 89.

Tell that ladies husband, thanks a lot! J/K but I did love it up there. I re-enlisted while stationed at Griffiss but when it went on the chopping blocks I knew it was time for me to go. Already went through one base closure, Eaker (Blytheville) in Arkansas so that was it for me.

Do you plan on retiring at 20 or are you going for more?

Best of luck,
Koop

I wish, that way I would get 100% of the money istead of just 50%. Plus the guys I get to play not quite as good as the guys they have to play.

Not sure. Depends on assignements I guess. My wife is also AD and if they separate us, then we'll turn it down and retire. My enlistment takes me through 21 now. I can stay to 24 at my current grade. I guess we'll take one day at a time.

Who is your favortie male and female player on tour and why? Also who do you see as the best current player even if they are not your favorite and who do you think is the best up and comer?

Efren - absolute master of all games.
Vivian Villareal - superb player with a personality second to none and a great person.

Either way, best of luck buddy. If you can stay until 24 I'm assuming you are a MSgt which means you've done well.

Best regards,
