Favorite Places to go after the Poolroom Closes?

They all sound good, thanks for posting. Ah yes, White Castle. We had 3 of those kind of slider places including White Castle, I think the one closest to us @ 8 mile & Coolidge was Top Hat. A half dozen of those w/fries & we were good to go (literally)! (By the way, if I were to close a poolroom these days I would have to call in sick for the next two days).

Here's a couple pics of Lafayette Coney Island, one action photo ;) - Lafayette makes their own chili, yum:

My wife and I went back to Detroit 2 weeks ago, the first place we eat was a coney island, I had to get my fix, one loose and one with everything, the fries were great also. Do you remember the coney island in Hamtramck that was named Peck's I believe. Had about 3 or 4 pooltables, acition all night everynight. Cornbread would stop in, Billy Codon would play there when he was in town. Tom

At least you're thinking healthy with the diet coke.

Always, with the ocassional Diet Pepsi now that they will be a sponsor for the US Open.

The funny thing about your "healthy" comment, is we just left an event that only had muffins/donuts afterwards so my wife said she wanted to eat something healthy. I mentioned LCI kind of as a joke & she immediately said yes because of all the times I talked about it. Her Mother kept teasing her about this being healthy? It was great to bite into one of those again.

Never went to Peck's, but now I wish I had. I was more into 3-cushion than pool and never played bar pool back then. Our trips to Hamtramck consisted of the original Buddy's Pizza & Shields. Another two great spots to eat, but not opened all night.

Don't let the people at American Coney Island know you go there. Its the place right next door.....

<<<<---Frequented both many times:thumbup:

At the Ballroom in Toms River NJ at around 2-3 am someone would inevitibly shout " Lets go to A.C. !!!!!"

American has taken over the corner of the building for seating, which was not there when I used to go. I was always loyal to LCI and never even tried American - I was so narrow minded :). I'm sure both were great.

In Virginia, it was always Mario's Pizza House.

There was a decent poolroom across the street for Mario's...called Cue and Chalk, owned by Teddy_?__, who is now owner of one of the DC rooms (Bedrock? I really have no idea).

His son played soccer with my brother, in a strange twist of life.

Close a pool hall? If I could, I would. If I stay out past nine PM anymore, I have to put the car on automatic to get home. Closing a joint, only in my dreams but late nights at the DCC mean one thing, Ice Cream.

Bill,

Same here, but when you were younger (much younger :) ) where did you go?

The titty bar. Only problem is I stay out so late that I oversleep, miss my next match, and get sent to the loser's side.

Actually now that I think about it, I haven't closed a pool hall since the early 80's. But when we did we'd go to another pool hall. When the HOB in Sherman Oaks would close at 2A on Friday and Saturday nights we'd head to the "Basement" - the old Hollywood Billiards - and play 'til 8 or 9 in the morning.

I have age deficit cognitive syndrome which means I forgot what this original post was about two pages ago.
But when I played at the 24 hour room in Daly City, the place to go eat was Joes of Daly City. That is if you won. If you lost, it was a lonely drive home. Steak with lots of fresh garlic, bread, bread, bread and butter.
The 24 hour place I played in Kentucky left several options. Cunninghams for sit down, White Castle if you felt like killing yourself.

I'm laughing out loud! Thx.

The Slice, a local live-music pub. Greasy, horrid, heart-surgeons-love-the-business-they-give-em food, insanely hot waitresses and bitter coffee.
