The Red Kettle?
OK, this ain't pool but calcuttas were involved and a stop at a restaurant when the dealing was done. A partner and I had an eighteen wheeler and my wife and I had taken a load of alfalfa to the biggest match track in the state at the time, Acadiana Downs, just below Lafayette LA. Good times, crazy cajuns, wild betting, and I sold most of a truck load of hay at a nice profit. Tired puppy at the end of the day and we hadn't eaten. First thing resembling a restaurant on the way out was a Red Kettle. Not quite what I had in mind, covered in dust or not I had a nice piece of cow craving going on.
Room to park the eighteen wheeler made the decision and I pulled in. We went in and ordered steaks. I favor mine medium rare but all too often when you even mention rare they toss the steak up near the light a couple times and throw it on the plate so I ordered medium, my wife ordered medium well.
When the steaks came they weren't even warm in the middle and they were tougher than old boot leather. When the waitress came by I held my steak out on my fork. "Give this thing a shot of penecillin and put it back on the track!" Now I know what happened to the horses that didn't run well.
