I'm aware that we all have preferences on shafts, so I want to know yours! I have had many different shafts of all types, anyone who knows me can attest to that! lol Currently I have many different DZ shafts, all plain maple, I have (1) Predator II 314, and my favorite shaft I've ever used is a DZ "high growth ring" shaft I got with my playing cue. Pics are in my signature and its the darker shaft. Pics and descriptions wanted plz!!

I think maybe this has been asked a thousand times.
But anyways I'll play along, I like the Predator 314-2 shaft best.
I can play just about as good with my other cues and shafts once I get use to them. I brought out my Bob Runde cue again tonight and I played great on it, actually ran out the first rack. But I missed a shot using a lot of English on the ball, but I know I would have made it with my Predator shaft. If I played with my Runde every day I'm sure I would have made the shot just fine.

Searing makes the best shafts that I've ever touched hands down. If your lucky enough to get him to make you one. You just have to be willing to wait.

Universal Smart shafts appear to be temporarily off the market, but I enjoy the one I acquired about 2 years ago.

USS is seldom mentioned in these shaft discourses.

I thought that the new Lucasi shafts are the USS, I thought I heard that they bought the design. I myself like the 314-2 / 314-2 FAT but I've also thought aboout taking down a 314-2 to a custom taper, something like a 12.35mm - 12.50mm and little stiffer then the current 15inch pro. However the taper of the 314-2 is sweet as is.

love my 314-2 but the touch ain'nt there. thought bout changing to the
ob2 but i want a 13mm shaft

You may want to try the 314-2 Fat or the OB Break shaft. You can use the OB break shaft as a player but you may want to change the tip and it's at 13mm. I may even try the BK2 shaft as a player but I'll most definitely have to change the tip and maybe even the ferrule.

Mezz WD700, Stiff hitting, slightly different taper than the 314 but with lotts of feedback, and low deflection to add. Made in Japan, and it's mostlikely the most popular cue there.

Mezz Hybrid 2, Another Stiff hitting shaft from Mezz but with a carbon core in the center, this is one of the most least deflecting shafts from Mezz, has a very slightly softer hit than the Wd700. Prefered by top Pros, Alex and Mika.

Predator 314, sets the standard, very popular, as Predator is the company that started low deflection shafts. Made now in China. But the hit is not a firm as the Mezz WD700. Still a great shaft. Most used by Top pros everywhere.

Mcdermott I-2, taper just like a 314, with a Carbon insert, great feedback and very nice hit but not as low deflection as the 314.

OB1, very soft hit, due to the foam insert in the core, lotts of cueball action. Pro taper similar to the 314, I have used this shaft even with the hardest tips, and still could not get any feel from it. Probally a combination of wood ferulle and foam insert. Having said all this, there are many players here that love the OB1.

I have been asking about the Cuetec R360 but somehow, I cannot see myself liking this shaft. McChen here has tonnes of info on all low deflection shafts... any info here would be great!

Surprised that there doesn't seem to be allot of Mezz users here, if you guys are looking for a Low Deflection shaft but that hits solid, check out the WD700... cause it is sooo underated.

I haven't spent that much time with the fairly new Predators Blak or Iccon series, I like the handle sizes, but if someone has compared the Blak or Iccon cues series to the Mezz cues here please post your results...

I was thinking about buying a Predator fat shaft and have it re-tapered to 12.9MM. I get some good break power when I use it to break with, I'm guessing the Predator Fat shaft would be a great breaking shaft.

The USS are discontinued, though some retailers still have some stock. Cue and Case makes the USS/Lucasi/Players lines. The Lucasi Hybrid is just like the USS without the interchangeable joint and that wacky 'vibration absorbing' fabric. There is also a Players HX shaft that has the same front end design, but it is not laminated like the USS and Lucasi.

My favorite shaft (right now) is the OB-2

My favorite shafts are 2 Predator 314-2 shafts that Paul Mottey finished from Predator blanks that I sent him. Paul matched the ring work on these shafts to one of his cues, but I'm currently using them on my Runde playing cue.
