Favorite Pool Room Food...

Mr. Cues II has a killer club sandwich and the chicken wing place might have had the biggest wings in Atlanta last time I went in there.

I don't eat at the pool hall much because I swear it's like a curse or Murphy's Law of the pool room. Anytime I order food, it means I'm about to play a league match or ring game, or something. Never fails. Then I have a hot plate of food distracting me and getting my hands all greasy while I play. Plus, I get full and I seem to play worse then.

Liquids only for me, I'll eat when I'm done. Yuengling curbs the hunger pretty good
 
Picture this. An old timey poolroom with wood flooring, a bathroom that smells like who did it, what for, don't do it no more, a pin-ball machine, and no kitchen. Just snacks.
You buy an ice cold bottle of Pepsi (glass bottle mind you) and a small bag of Planters peanuts.
You chug about a third of the Pepsi, then pour the peanuts down the neck of the bottle.
You nurse on that while playing a game of Snooker with your pals.
Pure heaven. :smile:

The best pool room food I have ever had was definitely at Diamond Billiard Club in Chattanooga, TN. Dave Crockett, was the owner and quite the chef as well. They had a daily special everyday and would always have a lunch crowd lined at the door. Some of my favorites on the menu were fresh, breaded mushrooms deep fried, southwest chicken egg rolls, steak and baked potato, they always had a meat and three vegetables. I don't mean canned veggies either! They had better food than Cracker Barrel! It was amazing!! If it wasn't on the menu and they had the ingredients they would make it! I really miss this pool room and anyone who has been there knows how good their food was! The set up of the room was awesome, I really miss going to this room! :( Had lots of good times with everyone in Chatt-town!

Mine is the Hustler Club. It's just like a club sandwich, only different. They use grilled Angus beef for the meat. :)

Sounds like a southerner to me. I wouldn't believe it, but after seeing gramma pour salt all over her watermelon I know better now.

I prefer a plank of smoked paddlefish accompanied by some roasted golden beet wedges atop a bed of arugula. That would be my preferred first course. For my second, I envision slightly sweetened cranberries blended into some melted brie with an ounce of decent brandy on the side. Next, I would like a pan seared bacon wrapped filet mignon, rare of course, served with a Dijon mustard infused demi-glace. Lastly, I would finish the night off with half a dozen White Castle sliders (with Dusseldorf mustard, naturally) and a half pint of Early Times.

There you have it...the perfect pool night dinner!

Okay but what happens when you drink the soda and you are left with a bunch of peanuts stuck in the bottom of the bottle:D
 
Two places come to mind around Houston area that I frequent, both on the south side of town:

Legends has just average food, mostly pizza, cheese sticks and the like. Though not great, their pizza in not too bad and they do have dried peppers and cheese put sprinkle on top

Caspers has a full kitchen. 16oz ribey is $15, along with all kinds of fresh gulf seafood. I go here just to eat sometimes as the prices are great. The food is excellnet and they do have a 12x6 snooker table.
 
Back 10-15 years ago, Mike "The Fly" Medley that owned Michael's in the Cinci area, his wife would occasionally make bbq'ed beef for sale in the poolroom... Probably my all-time favorite food I've had in a poolroom. Mike would often call and tell us their was action around and sometimes it just wasn't worth the 90+ mile drive, BUT, all he had to do was say the old lady made some bbq and we were mobile..... I'd eat 6 of them minimum.

yep..that use to be how it was done..these days there'd be a few give you a look..
 
Best short order, greasy spoon type food ever in a poolroom was undoubtedly the now defunct Steepleton's poolroom in Lexington, KY.....

They float.
Everytime you take a swig you get a few peanuts along with the Pepsi cola.
With practice you'll have them to the very end of the bottle. :smile:
 
In the morning it's biskets an gravy for sure..for lunch its a toss up between
a plain burger 1/2 pound..or a pulled pork sandwich bbq'ed of course.
Dinner..Chilli , one of the soups of the day..or ribs with mashers..
Jakes has a killer menu..Jakes isn't a pool hall..but Scott has the best
bar an grill in town with ten tables..bb.
The Cue Ball has nothing..but you can bring anything in with you..no booze.
