Favorite Smorgass Bored Posts/Threads

for those that didn't know Doug

One of our fine new posters inquired who "Smorg" was that I mention in my avatar. Seemed like time to give this thread a bump to the top. Anyone wanting more information should check out the Hall of Fame thread too.

Doug, I hope the pool and poker gods are treating you great!

Nice one Hu

Loved the 'bowling' story.
And the one about Jim-Bob.....er, uh....Jim

one thing I'm still insanely jealous about . . .

He's a stud.

Doug once told me he bedded a young Suzanne Pleshette. At least she said she was Suzanne Pleshette and looked just like her. Either way, I'm far greener than Kermit ever was!

just a 'moment in time', 'memory' that will always be with me...

and he told me, 'i can't'

i understood...

Like JAM, a lot of my memories of Doug {Smorg} are from rsb. If I was down for any reason, seeing one of Smorg's post almost always made me laugh. We had email discussions of pool, antiques, etc. I was overjoyed when I first logged onto AZ and saw that, again, he was here before me.
RIP, old friend.

I've only read a few but they are all quite entertaining. Wish I was around before he passed away, we'd be buddies.

Very cool. Now everyone can enjoy the rabbits story. Doug was a one of a kind.

Just an update to all of Doug's old friends and new friends: Barbara has done what Doug had asked of her. Doug told me and Barbara that after he passed, he wanted Barbara to move on with her life and find someone to share the rest of her life with.

Barbara is in a new and happy relationship, one that I think Doug would be very happy of. I know Doug was easy to like and impossible to forget, but that he would be happy for Barbara and the fact that she has found happiness in this world without Doug.

Anyway, thanks again for sharing the links to Doug's very special stories.

a favorite of mine

Smorg had a way of ribbing certian folks that was priceless. I was not close to him but his post always made me laugh. I remember this one from the days of him giving Wheat cues a good ribbing. I know I am one to talk about spelling but this is just classic ." We are NOT Geese, we are human beans.... and we don't attach anyone (at least, most of us don't.....I think Varney attaches people)

Doug
(although CocoboloCowboy may have a little goose in him)"

BURP ! Excuuuuuuuse ME..... - 12-25-2007, 07:33 PM

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Did you get anything Pool related for Christmas ?"

No, no I didn't.
I got some shirts, shorts, jogging pants, a case of popcorn and two pair of shoes. The shoes don't fit and gave me a blister on my toe, after only 10 minutes. We're returning the shoes and ordering some from online.

While I didn't 'get' anything pool related for Christmas, I did FIND my 30 year old Rocky Tillis box cue with the micarta ferrule and the shaft autographed by Steve Mizerak. I had put it in a case and then misplaced it and have been unable to locate it. (It was behind my deep sea rod & reels).... I 'feel' like I got it for Christmas and that made Christmas all the more special to me...... imo

Doug
( of course the 21 lb. brown sugar/pineapple glazed whole ham that I roasted and the apple & chocolate pies helped make it a GREAT Christmas )

*Oh, and I received some Christmas Rep from JoeyA. and that was my most precious gift.(after my bottle of Ameretto Di Sarona)

Every year around this time I start thinking about our Ole Buddy Smorg.

Please post links to some of your favorite Smorg Posts/threads. I have many.

Some of my favorites have already been posted. But here's one that forever links my name and Smorg's in the Goggle-Sphere, because he wrote my name three times in one sentence.

He made it in June 2006, not too long after I visited him at Planet 9Ball and we played one afternoon.

"Doc gave me 9-6 and after 11 hours he beat me out of enough jellybeans for a steak dinner in a semi-refined steakhouse. He also knocked me from the winners side to left side of the board in Grady's one-pocket event in Gulfport, Miss. on another occasion....
Doug
(keep a close eye on Doc, he isn't one of the Seven Dwarf's)

Oh, and Lou F., let me not forget Lou Figueroa. Lou F. gave me 10-6 and beat me 10 to -3, 10 to -2, 10 to -3 and a whole bunch of 'close' games of 10-0. Lou beat me SO badly, that I haven't played ANY pool of ANY kind for the past SIXTEEN MONTHS.
Doug
( I've forgotten everything that I ever thought I knew about pool and if the river cards keep breaking it off in my rectum, I might give up Poker TOO........ dammit ! )"
