favorite veneer color combo

Hey guys, Im about to order a new cue with 4 veneers. What is everyones favorite veneers combinations? Im leaning toward flame veneer (black, red, yellow, maple). btw the butt wood will be either ebony or rosewood.

Not being a rosewood fan, I would say my favorite combination on an ebony cue would be :View attachment 24233

Being a cue traditionalist, one of my favorite veneer combinations is black, orange, medium blue, and white for an ebony into birdseye cue. I have had several cues made that way. Black, orange, green, and white is another great combo for a rosewood or cocobolo pointed cue. You can also reverse the green and orange for another nice looking veneer combination.

Its great to see people taking an interest in the decorative aspects of veneers. I like the veneers best when the colors are rich and vibrant. IMO, European sycamore and maple make the best base wood for dyed veneers.

I am a Bigger Fan of Recutts like:

Cocobolo Points, White (Maple or Birdseye) Recut/Remachined Point, & Black (Ebony) Recut/Remachined Point next to the Birdseye Maple Forearm.

I like the veneers in the mottey in my sig: black (outer) light blue, green, orange (inner). Looks awesome with birdseye into ebony.

That one, I would say, is a question for the cuemakers.
Try asking in their section and I'm sure you'll get plenty of answers.

Most makers I have talked with have .030 or .040
Although it seems to be the trend lately with the thinner veneers, I much prefer the wider veneers that show of the colors better.
 
So is it safe to say that most of todays cuemakers use a .04 veneer on a traditional 4 pt cue? mottey? scruggs? tasc? white?

My favorite color combination is very much like what has already been said, with only slight adjustments. Black, red, royal blue, maple. This is very much like the hercek mentioned above with a few changes in the hues. I have a cue coming this fall that has that color combination with ebony into birdseye. I think this color combination or a slight variation of, works well because it's close to the primary colors, (red, blue, yellow) which in art terms is considered "triadic harmony"
