Fedor Gorst vs Tkon Nguyen race to 120 is Live

Yes, perhaps only ten guys in the world have a shot to beat Fedor in a long race right now, and since I've never heard of his opponent, I'm guessing he is not one of them.

I'm sure that this is a paid exhibition. As is nearly always the case in these falsely advertised matches, I doubt either has any action here.

Tkon is just a nickname, you might have heard of him by his full name, Nguyen Anh Tuan. Came in 11/16 in Premier League Pool with a 7-8 record last year and has a 770 Fargo, so a world class pro but a big underdog.

Isn't this the same Vietnamese player that had an exhibition with Efren in the first Hanoi Open?

EDIT:
So is this the same guy? They look alike, both are lefties, and have the same last name (though Nguyen matching isn't saying much). First name Tkon vs. Anh Tuan.

Tkon is his nickname. Here is Anh Tuan against De Luna:

it seems to me as long as suckers are willing to pay to watch basically pre determined setup matches then let them as they are not smart enough to realize there are hundreds of top player real matches on you tube for free.
and money in the middle is another joke to make it sound like its more.

I agree.

Out of nowhere you got this random race to 120 with one of or the best player vs some random tomato can.

I suspect Fedor will do what he has to in order to hold this guy up for a few rounds. A 770 Fargo makes this guy about the 150th best player in the world. He'd be a heavy underdog in a race to 11 against Fedor. A race to 120 is comical in this spot, but if people enjoy watching it, I'm all for it.

Not saying I disagree, but what ten guys would you say have a chance? I got SVB, Filler, and…uh….maybe Ko brothers plus FSR?

Day 1 ends Fedor up 30-22.

What are you boys complaining about? It’s an exhibition match in Vietnam. The place is packed with locals watching him. All the fans seem to me having fun. Vietnam put up one of their best players against him. Isn’t that all good stuff?

None of us are squares here. I doubt even a square would believe it’s a “gambling” match.

Yeah, the 40k tag is probably just what he charged to be there lol

@13 whatever it was, Nguyen miscued and made this cool looking billiard. The 9 went end to end up the rail. :ROFLMAO: He broke down in prayer or something. :ROFLMAO: Don't know the current score but it looks like too much blood flow to the head.

As I've posted before, if people enjoy this match, I'm all for it. If it's a paid exhibition, as most of us suspect, perhaps our problem is that we are tired of being lied to. Just call it an exhibition instead of a $40,000 match.

Even Matchroom misled us not so long ago, paying the same to winners and losers at the Reyes Cup, meaning, although not advertised as such, it was an exhibition in which the players had no money riding on the outcome. To use your terminology, not even the squarest of squares would believe that pride is enough of an incentive for pool professionals trying to scratch out a living from the game to give their last ounce of effort in an exhibition with no money at stake.

It is in vogue to misrepresent what players are playing for (or at risk for) these days, but that doesn't make it right. That's one of several reasons why I will never take any of these long races too seriously. At least in the TAR days, things were on the level.

The production value is quite good. I just watched my first complete rack, ha ha. Great to see so many in the crowd watching too.

Tkon's cue looks like a carom cue to me. It is very fat, and seems short. What do you all think? Carom or pool?

I've dipped in and out and watched some replay. I've enjoyed what I have seen. Both players are taking the event very seriously and the local crowd is too.

Tkon is of course playing at home and doesn't want to get embarrassed. He's gotten better over the last year, and I think he's going to get better after this event. You could see him get very frustrated as Fedor kept winning game after game.

Gorst, for his part, has a big following in Vietnam and has tried to monetize his popularity there more than any other WNT player, save for perhaps FSR. He also hangs in Vietnam a lot.

Gorst is taking the event very seriously and has played at a very high level following a slow start.
