Absolutely! The true greats have always figured out how to beat even the specialists in pool's fringe games. Fedor won all three disciplines at Derby City by the age of 22. Filler had a top 5 in all divisions of the 2023 Derby City Classic and also won a long one-pocket race against Chohan in what I believe was 2020. Dennis, Alex, Efren, Sigel and Varner were all outstanding across all the disciplines. It's been shown decade after decade the better player wins the specialty games against the best, after just a few months of practice. Efren is of course the most famous case. One hole, bank pool, backpocket 9 ball, etc.
The only place this has not held true (unlike my quote a few posts above from Fast Eddie) is across cue sports. Pocket Billiards, Carom Billiards, and Snooker, have held their own, and not allowed any crossover champions. I wonder why this is so.

Yes, another good example.Add Busty to that last!
Shane beats all the one pocket specialists, IMO, today. So top 5 for the money
1. Gorst
2. Filler
3. Alex
4. Dennis
5. ?
I think 1/2 and 3/4 probably interchangeable on any given day. Really not sure who would be #5
The Fishers and Corr. I think the reason for that is that training of female pool champions in the US was weak compared to the training of snooker players in the UK. To play snooker at any reasonable level your fundamentals have to be very good.... The only place this has not held true (unlike my quote a few posts above from Fast Eddie) is across cue sports. And a magic white ball...What's the differnce, man, its just balls and a stick...
So top 5 for the money
