Feeler on New Ferrule and Joint Material

Was just thinking about the #s above. Have to get to bed but real quick.

On the FM and TS, seems you want higher numbers. FM of 250,000+ and a TS of closer to 10,000. Seems like the above would be really flexible, much more so than an Isopalst or RPE. Delrin had fairly high #s but the Impact strength is low which probably explains somewhat why it chips so easily. I am pretty much locked in to what I use, which is an Isoplast (useless someone specifies) but I'd like to check some out.

You could be right. The tests were done @ 8 mills though. I may have to adjust my Polycat's and add some fillers. To me I would like to get it wrong a couple of times, gives and old R&D man something to do during retirement.

Always looking to try something new, especially ferrule material, and this one sounds interesting

Tom,
Thanks for "working during retirement", it's so nice to have a pro working
on something for pool cues.

Same here

I would also like a sample of ferrules Tom, If they are as good as your tips are people are going to love them. PM sent

Update

LOL, back to the drawing board. The formulation is to fast. Gelling is starting in less than 5 minutes, you can cut and sand in less than 20 minutes. Problem is in hand mixing, air entrapment. You will notice this in clear small cup I mixed. On the Ultraskin tip at about 1/8" thick, no problem.

On the brown joint piece you will see the effects after cutting. The nice thing though is during cutting everything is one complete ultra hard sharp line as you cut. It buffs out like a mirror, you can see reflection with 0 distortion, that I liked.

It will never yellow or fade due to it being 100% solid pure Aliphatic.

I have several options. If I use a 1-1 ratio machine with a static mixer I will not have any air entrapped. My other option is to reformulate to the point where 1' pieces can be mixed by hand slow enough to allow all air to leave, hoping a 20 minute gell 1 hour cut and sand. I will need to go to my lab in Jacksonville or Georgia to do this. If I can go the 20 minutes hard in hour I might offer it as a clear coat finish for cues, no VOC's so it would ship class 57 haz mat free.

See what the next week to 10 days brings.
