Fight at pool bar in Dallas

Its not so much you are hustling drunks, but if it is a challenge table. There can be four or five of us playing for money. Then some idiot shows up and puts his name on the board and he is an unknown. I had a guy throw a cueball at me that just missed my head. It could have killed me. This was in my younger days and I ran out the door.

There was no way this fat piece of crap could catch me. I was in my truck and gone before he could get out the door. In my truck I always kept a gun right next to the seat that I could get my hands on fast..You know, this is many years later and I still do. Even though I always carry a gun in a "SmartCarry" that second gun is always there in close reach.

would anyone ban these people from the pool room?
There is a difference. A poolroom that serves beer is not the same as a bar with pool tables. Most come to the bar to drink and may play a game or two of pool.
Most come to a poolroom to play pool and may have a beer or two.
Completely different businesses.

Another difference in a bar is, strangers mingle at the pool table.

In a pool room you rent your table for your own use. You don't have to deal with strangers. Most play and don't even talk to the other players on adjesent tables.
A poolroom is not the same environment as a bar.

That's be biggest difference in "street fights" today. In the old days it was usually a fist fight and to see a knife was unusual. Nowadays, any fight can lead to gun play and people getting shot and maybe killed. It happens everywhere now, day or night, in stores, restaurants, malls. you name it. Shootings and homicides are on the rise all across our country. It's the new Civil War between the haves and have nots, the Right and the Left, and anyone else that gets in your way or offends you somehow. That's how disputes are settled now, pull a gun and shoot them.

For all those reasons I am careful anytime I go out and pick my spots carefully. I do my best at all times to be alert to the people around me and what is going on with them. I know that I notice things that most others either miss or ignore. My radar is on constantly. Call me what you want, but I have no desire to be a victim. I will only add this. I have very good security on several levels around and insde my house. Home invasions are on the rise in Los Angeles and the perpetrators tend to be armed and violent. I just want a fighting chance if they pick my home.

Yes Sir. I am exactly the same. I do carry and have since 1974 buy never even came close to having to decide one way or another. These days if you do not have situational awareness you could just end up on the news!

Not substantiated with the facts::

In the old westerns, one would see bar fights and everyone in the bar was wearing guns, but none were ever used.

Stats will tell you there’s a better chance at being killed at a MickyD’s offering a cheeseburger.
...and the drunken fighters in a bar are rarely good fighters.

Here's some sobering stats for you, from the CDC and Brady United. During the years 2015-2019 the average number of people shot each year in the U.S. was 115,551 with an average of 38,826 deaths each year. In 2019 there were an average of 316 people shot every day and 106 who died. In 2020 the murder rate went up by 18% nationally and is on track to go up close to 20% more this year. Overall crime is down but violent crime continues to spike upward. The days of the "Wild West"in the 1800's were not nearly as dangerous as the streets of any major city today!

The only country with more gun deaths annually than in the U.S. is Brazil.

Interesting that your stats provided above indicate the murder rate went up 25% in 2020 compared to 2019. My numbers were lower but they may have referred only to gun deaths being up 18% in 2020.
