yes. But then only 6 Filipinos joined this tournament compared to dozens of Americans. We are down to the final 8 now and we have a Filipino in each quadrant leaving us with a possiblility of all 4 of them in the final 4. And to think that Kiamco, Luat, Sambajon and Parica are not currently considered (at least IMHO) in the top 5 of their pool ranking.

According to Bandido from this post, the remaining 4 aren't even considered in his top 10 Filipinos. He ranks Parica 12th, Luat 14th, Santos 18th, and he doesn't even list Kiamco. BTW, who is "Petiza" in Bandido's list?

I was predicting Gabica to go far in this tourney. Seems like he didn't have such a hot tournament, losing his 3rd and 4th games. Considering he won the Asian games gold medal in 9ball, I thought he would do much better. And besides, he's ranked much higher than the rest on the list (8th). ;)

Jose Parica and Santos haven't competed in as many Filipino events as the rest of 'em, until recently, which may be -- and I am not sure -- why they have a lower ranking in "Bandido's list." :p

Santos didn't compete for several years in Philippines while he was here ni the States. He returned to the Philippines for the first time in a very long while, right after he won the $64,000-plus in the Skins Billiards Championship in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

While he was there, he elected to not come to the IPT King of the Hill event in Orlando, Florida, December of '05, even though he was initially selected as one of the 150 "hand-picked" original members, resulting in Santos having to win an IPT qualifier to get into Vegas and Reno in 2006.

BTW, I haven't seen Francisco Bustamante lighting up the boards in recent times. Is he taking a break from playing?

He's still playing. I saw him at One Side almost everyday during my two weeks there, and he finished 2nd in a 10-ball tournament there with Efren, Luat, Alcano, Gomez, De Luna, Lee van Corteza playing.

1 Filipino entered the eurotour this week, 288 participants, Manalo finished 3rd.
