Filler back to the carbon shaft

Not sure it makes any difference but Filler just got beaten by Kaci, someone who uses a wood shaft.
Impossible to tell but maybe Filler would make more shots with his Z2 than the new 12.4 Revo he's now using.

It looked to me like Kaci's 314 might have been a 314-1 (post cat decal)? I couldn't really see a 2 or 3 for the 2nd/3rd generation. But I also didn't see any good closeups on the portions of his matches I watched.

For Filler, did he really go with a 12.4 and not an 11.8, if he's coming from a Z? I played the 314 for 20 years, and figured the 12.9 was the right fit. I was way off, and the 12.4 was much closer to the 314 (for me). By that logic, I would think the 11.8 revo is much closer to the Z.

Filler is using 12.4 Revo is my understanding as well. I still believe he misses his Z3.
Kaci uses 314-2's.
He had a bunch made for him before 314-3's took over.

Look, it's very simple. Nike pays you to wear and promote Nike shoes, then you wear Nike shoes. If Predator pays you to play with and promote their REVO shafts, then you play with a REVO shaft. It's called Marketing and Sponsorship.

Yeah but you gotta sandbag on the effectiveness.

It's not that simple.
Predator sponsored Filler to play with a Z3, and Filler got used to it and became the highest fargorated player in the world.
Now Predator wants Filler to shoot with a totally different shaft and still rule the world.
That's a pretty risky expectation.
If Filler doesn't become the best with the Revo it's not only going to hurt Filler, it's going to hurt Predator.
Predator has FSR and Ouschan already using Revos.
Gimping Filler by taking away his Z3 might come back to haunt them.
I guarantee you that there's not enough money in the world to convert Kaci to Revo btw. He knows better.
Filler might bail out of Predator if they don't allow him to go back to Z3.
I'm sure other sponsors would love to have him. Gorst went from Predator to Cuetec and is better than ever.

Very little difference in predator wood shaft vs predator Revo. Now if we’re talking about a standard wood shaft non low deflection then yes that would be totally different.
I play at just under a fargorate 700 level.
I've tried both wood and cf shafts. I prefer wood.
For the average player, you may not notice much difference.
Advanced players, however, notice even the slightest, subtle differences.
Trust me when I say, "Filler notices."

I played beside him and Pia last week at Griff's. I directly asked him about it and he seemed sincere in saying he liked his 12.4 Revo an would not be going back to his Z.

What does he know compared to Woodshaft LMAO 😂. Woody's almost a 700 Fargo in his mom's basement.

The commentators commented that the internet rumor of Predator making Joshua switch to CF was false.

By the way I think Francisco Sánchez Ruíz is also using the 12.4.
I have all three Revo sizes, 11.8, 12.4, 12.9, all with the black vault plate and I think the 12.4 plays the most "wood like" of the three.
But that's just my opinion. None of them really do fully but I think the closest is the 12.4.

It’s funny how the paradigm has shifted. 20 years ago the forum (and the pool halls) were split between “hollow laminated predator shafts hit like crap compared to solid wood”, and today we are at “cf hits like crap compared to [hollow laminated Predator] wood shafts. :)

Woodshaft yes I understand. I usually cash in at DCC and big regional events so I also am very familiar with the differences. I’m just stating that when people reference wood vs carbon most of the time the “wood shaft” they are referencing is also LD predator 314 as a example and between that and a Revo to me there is minimal difference. I play with a standard high deflection shaft. There is to me a big difference between a standard high deflection wood shaft when comparing to a Revo and also a 314.

Deflection-wise, you are correct. Very similar.
But feel, balance, pivot-point, color, etc, all very noticeable differences to higher end players.
Hopefully Filler and Predator figure it, out one way or the other.

Of course they did lol. It's a Predator-sponsored event.
Either/or, I hope that Filler gets back to his old god-like self sooner than later.

Biggest part of the reason I play with a carbon shaft, Revo, is that I don't have to worry about it getting warped or dinged.
Used to spend countless hours working out those dings before. Drop one on the floor and suddenly there are several dings.
The rest has to do with how consistently they glide through my fingers, how easy they are to keep clean and how they always feel the same regardless of humidity.
