Sales are what's important to Predator. They are a sales and marketing organization that happens to be in the pool business.
Correct… so if Filler is winning less, is he is less valuable as an asset?

Getting less TV/stream time, less general exposure, earlier outs in event, and the assumption that the shaft change hurt his game are all very negative for predator.

Possibly, but it's still speculation that the shaft has caused his recent slump. Last I checked, he was still the top rated Fargo player in the world at 839.

....snip....
Predator makes way more profit off Revos than their wood shafts
...snip...

I think it's the opposite and there is more profit on the wood shafts. They are made in China since the 314-2 days, while the Revo is made in Boston. The labor rates between the two locations is probably 10x. Without Predator showing the numbers, its pure speculation on both our parts:)

I bet its the other way around. They can gin out those cf tubes like M&M's. Lot more time/work in making a laminated ld shaft. At full retail they gotta be killin it off those Revo's.

My other half says he does not like the carbon shafts one bit, stating he cannot execute long shots proficiently with them. I'll have to ask him again why to get more details, but he most definitely prefers wood.
I just asked my other half why he does not like the carbon shafts, and here is his response.

KEITH McCREADY: I've always liked wood. When the carbon fiber shafts first came out, I tried to use 'em, and I'm a type of player that uses a lot of cue-tip high spins, spin the ball a lot. With carbon fiber shafts, when putting a lot of spin on the cue ball, it's not real good for that. But shooting straight-ins, they are probably pretty good. When hitting the cue ball with inside englishes, outside englishes, the wood shafts for me are better to use. I do a lot of that, inside rights, kill rights, outside lefts, et cetera. I guess I'm one of those players that likes to turn the ball a lot, and it's not for me. The wood is better for me.

I'm used to long tapered shafts, and the carbon fiber shafts, just going through your fingers compared to the wood shafts, is not quite the same. Growing up with the wood shafts all my life, I'm staying right there in that lane. I see a lot of players using these carbon fiber shafts. There must be a little something to it. It's just not for me.

From what it looks like, the carbon fiber shafts would be real good break cues for sure because the way it seems like the mix the balls pretty good. I would use that for that for sure because of the action you get from the cue ball to the object ball to the balls mixing more in the rack.

@JAM, has Keith tried the new CF shafts that hit the scene in the past 5-6 years? The Revo was the first one.

The ones before then in the 1990's until about 2017 were the "Walmart" type CF that were junk.

I asked him, and he said he has not tried one in the past 5 or 6 years. Like everything else in the world of technology, hardware and software, they probably have improved for sure. Thanks for the info. :)

I can play as good off the wall, out of someone elses case, doesn't matter. I'm the baddest dude to ever play this game and I have no major wins, no fargo rate, no APA rank, and don't gamble. 👀👀👀 pardon me. The staff here at the facility are telling me it's time for my meds. brb

If you surprise him with a Revo, he might love it. I saw some senior pros that used nothing but traditional wood shafts for decades just switch to it, and was shocked they did. For the life of me I forgot which one, might have been Massey or Varner or Fleming.

Keith is still upset when they changed the rules in 9-ball from the two-shot/push-out rules to what they have today. He said he game went "down to the 7," whatever that means. :p

Can someone point me to the post that anyone worth his salt can play as good with a stick off the wall?

Thanks in advance.
Occurs to me that really elite player probably get more aware of any changes to their equipment than lesser players. While I'm sure they can play great with unfamiliar equipment it seems doubtful it will be to the level they play at with the equipment they are used to.

This is true with non-elite players as well. In fact, I think the only level where one would play about the same with their personal equip versus off the wall would be the much less skillful player where misses are counted beyond their fingers and toes.
