Final Frame of the 2024 Masters Snooker | Ronnie O'Sullivan v Ali Carter

And the Old Guy just keeps doing it. Somebody is going to have to knock him off the mountain. At 48 he's still rolling. When his mind is right there is no finer cueman.

I hate to say Carter choked but.....

I watched the comeback live. Ruthless Ronnie O'Sullivan clawed his way to the top from a 6-3 deficit to beat Ali Carter, 10-7, in the second leg of the Triple Crown, having won the UK Championship previously this season. This is his eighth Masters title, and at 48 years of age, he is the oldest to have ever won the Masters. He is also the youngest to have ever won the Masters at the age of 17 in 1993.

Ronnie pockets $318,349 (£250,000), and as runner-up, Ali wins $127,339 (£100,000). The total prize fund for the 16-player invitational Masters is $954,626 (£725,000).

If Ronnie wins his eighth World Championship, he will have won the snooker's version of the Triple Crown: UK Championship, Masters, and World Championship. The World Championship begins April 20, 2024, at the Crucible.

Snooker's Triple Crown has only been won several times since its existence: Mark Williams in 2002; Stephen Hendry twice, 1990 and 1996; and Steve Davis in 1988.

Ronnie's mother, dressed in a smart all-white pants suit, was in the audience for this history-making victory. His look-alike children, Ronnie Jr. and Lily, were also on-site and celebrated with him in the winner's circle.

not very classy to say your opponent doesn't have what it takes in post-match interview. but anyway, goes without saying it's crazy impressive to be pushing 50 and still be winning the biggest events, in these kind of fields.

I believe Ronnie gives his opponents the chance to beat him then he shames them. He has stated previously that he is underwhelmed by the competition.
Ronnie is a purist and I believe his distaste for Ali goes back to the cheating incident.

one year all he did was monkeying neil robertsons australian accent. idk, i usually mute him, but people should perhaps not listen to what he says but rather do what he does - play fast and aggressive.

did ali cheat?

... did ali cheat?
I don't know which incident that's referring to, but there was one in which Carter was trying to hit yellow for a safe. He missed it going up and then he missed it coming back, both by a millimeter. The table may have rolled off. Clearly no hit on video replay. Carter bullied the ref into changing her foul call. I stopped being a fan after that.

And it was against Higgins one of the few Ronnie respects.

Carter is worthy of carrying Ronnie's chalk to the event.
