It looks very high off the table. How much distance is it above the table?
Looks great, I think you need to experiment with the hight over the table, it looks too high.

looks great, but there's an even easier solution that gives off more light. Just create a 2x8 frame (only needs to be at most 6 inches high) with a 1/4 inch lip around the bottom edge with some kind of thin molding and just sit two of these in there:

I say "gives off more light" because these are self contained office ceiling light fixtures with a proper reflector behind the light. They come with a transparent plastic diffuser sheet, but I also used the honeycomb chrome stuff like you have there. Gives tons of light.
