Just thought I'd post this first 5 from scratch cues in process.
Quality pics will follow. No inlays on these. CNC still not complete.
Let me know what you think.

Thanks

Very nice looking.. new cuemaker making pointed cues..!!! Got my vote.. remember when you get the CNC, sharpen those diamonds even if it takes a little longer :D

Very Nice Looking Cues...... Please Don't Fill These Nice Spliced Cues With Rounded Cnc Inlays

Nice point work...not too big of a gap between points and not too small, very well done. The far left cue is my cue of choice.

Thanks for the input. No way will I cut rounded inlays. I'll post some pics of the full cues in a few days. Thanks again

Outstanding for first group of cues Dan! You have some talent sir! Are you getting any coaching or are you learning entirely on your own?

I think they're really clean looking. This is really your first batch from scratch? Pretty amazing.

Those look really, really nice. I have 2 suggestions for you for your future cues...

1. Widen the points to where the veneers are almost, or barely touching.
2. Use the same ringwork in the joint collar as you have used throughout the rest of the cue.

If you add sharp inlays on top of that you have a very bright future in cuemaking.

Martin, they look good because of your wonderful, quality veneers! I've been on my own for the most part.

I have 2 friends who are custom cuemakers, both well known, who I have discussed cue making with for many years. I have been a Player for 40 years. My thoughts are on playiblity first and formost. If they don't play well, they are firewood. Nothing against any cuemakers in the world, but I can't begin to tell you the thousnds of dollars spent on beautiful cues, that just did'nt play the way I feel or like a cue to play. We have been there. Now we all know this is very subjective, what I like about the way a cue plays, the next person won't. I'm a "center ball" nine ball player. I look for as little flex and deflection as I can get. I like very stiff playing cues, but I have player friends that spin their ball a lot and want a cue with more flex.

Sorry I guess all that is for another forum. I digress.

But I felt this process was something I need to learn and develope on my own. So its been kinda a long slow start up, working up "my process" and how I feel a cue should be built and play.

Thanks for everyones input, and yes the batch I'm about to begin, will have points a little wider. And as far as deco rings, the 6 point has rings at ABCDE, while the others are only at CD and E and have more of the "old style" look.

Again thank you all for the kind words and thoughts.

Dan
