Hi, i'm considering to buy my first cue. I'm looking for a predator SP4RJL sneaky pete ( http://www.seyberts.com/products/Red_4_Point_Sneaky_Pete_Irish_Linen_Wrap-1500-20.html ). What do you think? Is it a good cue? Do you know a site where can i buy it at a lower price? I live in europe and the dollar- euro is very convenient.
I have a doubt... Is it a good idea to buy a cue without try it? I don't think so, but where i live i don't have any shop where i can buy cues..

You really should try to hit with a cue first as even the same exact model may hit different another. If you know you like how the Predator shaft hits though, this would be a good buy, from what I have seen the Predator spliced sticks are well constructed and hit well.

You might try going to the local poolroom and asking around about who has a cue(s) for sale. I agree that it is best to try out a cue(s) before buying one.

Hey slh, are there very many Vespa scooters over there in Italy? Just kidding. I used to own one. Lots of fun.
Anyway, the Predator cue with it's accompnee...it's accompneen...it's 314-2 shaft is an excellent choice. I use the Predator shafts and they are hard to beat.
As to test driving a cue, in most instances you can't. You would have to find a place where the seller had a table and you could hit a few balls and not put chalk on the tip. In any event, you won't go wrong with the Predator sneaky.
Ciao. :smile:

i haven't tried to ask but i don't think they have...

hey, yes there are a lot of Vespa here. In the past there was a lot more old models ( of the 70'-80-90' era) but now due the antipollution law the number is lowered. But there are a lot of new models here, i don't know if you like the old models or the new models.

Btw, i don't have any shop here... so i'm forced to buy online.

first cue

Don't worry a lot about your first cue. In my opinion, the Predator is sneaky is an excellent choice. No matter what you buy, you will more than likely find some aspects you like and don't like. With the Predator you will have good resale value if you decide you prefer something else. Good luck.

Have you called the Turi Club
Via Roma, 69, 90010 Cerda, Italy‎ - 091 899 9409‎

They may have some different model cues you can try. It's about 60 km from you. At the very least you might be able to play some pool and ask people to try their cues or perhaps even buy a used cue that you like after you hit with it.

Good luck.

thank you, but i think it is only a pool room... In my city there are some pool room but they don't sell cues...

When I was shopping for a Predator shaft last year, I was told by more than one dealer that they can't discount more than 15% from Manufacture Suggested Retail Pricing (MSPR).

Predator may be coming out with new Sneakies, and Seyberts was given permission to clear out their inventory at this advertised price. So, its unlikely you're going to find a new Predator cue from an authorized dealer at this level of discounting.

Seybert has a 60 day return policy on cues.

i don't get your post... What means?The cues are fake predator? :D

No, Predator maybe coming out with a new model of Sneaky Petes. So, Seybert may be authorized to discount heavily to clear inventory for new stock. Last year when the 314-2 shaft, a few dealers were authorized to sell off existing 314 shafts for $140.

ok, in your opinion is it better to wait the release of the new models ( which is not sure) or to take advantage of this big discount?

I use an SP8RW (gen 1) as my play cue for the last two years.

Seeing these prices drop so significantly in the past 3 months leads me to believe that a third generation of shafts or a new generation of butts or both are on the way. This in no way detracts from the quality of the stuff on the shelves today.

Take advantage of the discount and buy it now. Disregard my speculation as the motive of the discount.

If you don't like the cue, you have 60 days to return it for a refund or exchange minus expense for international postage.

I suspect the same thing. Or, the SP's are being used as a "loss leader" ...they price them as such to get people into using the Predator. Once hooked, more shafts will be bought or possibly a more fancy Ikon series cue. The 8-pointers came down a little, but not much.

Figure this, the 4 point wood joint Predator Sneaky has been going for $279 shipped.

Considering that the regular price for just the shaft is $232...you get the butt for less than $50.

Thing is, it's not a cheap butt. The Predator sneaky has the following qualities:

1. Excellent finish.

2. Uniloc quick release joint.

3. Full splice with SHARP points (not CNC rounded ones).

4. Veneers.

5. Pretty good pieces of wood.

6. Nice creme colored butt cap, thin and stylish.

7. Predator logo bumper that screws in (won't fall out and get lost). It's not just a plug.

8. Phenolic insert in the joint where the uniloc pin is installed, makes joint more solid, stable.

Without a doubt, it's the highest quality cue you can get for under $300. Nothing come close. It is even higher quality than many production cues costing $600 or more. And you get the maximum playability of the Predator shaft, with a Everest layered tip. They look good, play consistently. All for $279. Impossible to beat. Price performance king. If you want better, you have to go custom.

It's the absolute best starter cue IMO. Can't go wrong. In fact, it's a starter cue you never need to replace. I still play with mine. :thumbup:

what's the difference between the SP4RJL model and your model ( SP8RW )?

I recently aquired one of the "SP4RJL" it's the sneaky pete with 4 points and the wrap, from seyberts. What can I say they had them on sale, I was looking to buy one anyways, the canadian dollar was almost at par with the US dollar but i digress. If you are going to order one I would for sure recomend going to seyberts great service :thumbup: . Getting back to the cue for a second though I myself am a fan of the predator cues, like the feel, the hit, etc. but i also have a friend that well predator just doesn't jive with him, I don't know he says it feels "funny", so one mans Tool o' Doom is another mans Stick o' wood. Good luck on your hunt for the right cue.

I'll answer if I can.

SP = Sneaky Pete

4R or 8R = 4 points, 8 points

J = Stainless steel joint

W = Wood to Wood joint

L = Linen Wrap

I think I got it right.....

That said, an SP8RW is an 8 point sneaky with wood to wood joint and no wrap.

A SP4RJL is a 4 point sneaky, with steel joint and a linen wrap.
