Firsthand Pool I.Q. from a Master

I’m your run of the mill 6 handicap in APA that has hit a rut. Like you may know, the only way to improve in this great game is to increase the amount of knowledge you have and learn to consistently apply that knowledge.

After a friend recommended Joe Villalpando’s instructional DVDs, I purchased both of them (check them out at PoolIQ.net). The easy to understand kicking systems has me kicking more consistently and giving up fewer ball in hand. The cue ball control DVD has me sending the cue ball in more exact paths. This should be the goal whether you’re in a tight position or not.

Recently, I’ve had the opportunity to travel to the Galveston World Classic with my friend Gil Castillo from CastilloLeatherGoods.com and Joe Villalpando. There he made believers out of many other eager students of the game while giving me a few additional pointers. Joe also told me that he’s working on a 3rd video that is scheduled to be released around Christmas. The video will mainly be on creating lines and paths that aren’t naturally present. I will definitely be his 2nd if not 1st customer.

Joe is the man!

Joe is teaching in two video's what it took most of us many years to learn. After you can stroke straight and hit the cue ball these DVD's are probably the single best investment to improve your game.

I'm in the SA class here in Japan, that is above A but below Pro. Only thing between SA and Pro is taking the Pro test. Yes, they have a test. Anyway, kicking has always been one of my shortcomings. I took up 3-Cushion billiards about 3 months ago and my kicking game on the pool table has improved 10 fold. I was out playing a week or so ago and I realized that I was hitting all of my kicks as I played them.

I would recommend playing 3-C to anyone wanting to improve their cushion knowledge. Granted, the cushions don't play exactly the same on a 3-C table as they do on a pool table, but if you've got pool experience you can work it out.

Every time I watch Joe's video I pick up something I could use again in my game. One of the best videos out there.:)

Let me add that I'm in no way discounting the value of these DVD's. I too would like to see them. I was just tossing in another idea.

3-C is one of the reason why Efren has a good kicking and safety game. I actually liked your suggestion.

You traveled with Joe and you had to have a friend recommend the DVD? Shame on you. If I knew Joe or lived close by I would be taking lessons.

Sorry, I wasn't clearer. I had the chance to travel with Joe after purchasing his DVDs.

I bet that was a fun trip, too. Joe has a great personality and stories galore. You'll never have to worry about a boring road trip if you're with Joe.

You'd be surprised how many people have travelled far & wide to take lessons from Little Joe. To hear someone flew in from down South for a 3-day lesson is not unheard of.

The Best

I've been lucky enough to know Joe for many years. Over this time, through his lessons, he has advanced my game MANY times over. His teachings are very effective and uncomplicated. It actually seems like it should be TOO simple to work, but it does work!

I've known many great players that simply lack the ability to teach effectively. I've also known great teachers that are only average players. Joe is the best of both worlds, a great player and instructor!

If you don't have the time or money to get personal lessons from him, then the videos are the next best thing. Even the most advanced players can learn something from them.

That's my two cents worth... I hope that you don't want a refund!
