Hey All,

Just scored this for a small price. Put the calipers to it, and came out at about 0.028". I was told it was just a little thicker than linen used today, and could be used for a wrap. White (beige)/Green spot.

Does anyone have experience with, or heard of this brand?

Looking for a little more info.
Thank,

It looks like really nice stuff and should make good wrap. Is it old or is it still made?

I just looked at some original Balabushka linen under a microscope and except for the color and thickness your strings seem identical, particularly as relates to the twist. The original wrap seems to have been between .020 and .022 so your wrap will seem coarse and will require a very hard pressing of wet wrap.

Thanks for the info, Paul. It is old, and no longer made. Came with some antique fishing lures and leader line.

Best I have ever seen doing wraps with the old fishing line is the talanted Jack Justice case maker. I saw where Jack made designs with it that actualy looked like drawings. I can picture Paul Dayton looking at such a type wrap with a microscope. Where most would use it as a figure of speech Paul would just do so. I think Paul Dayton has probably the greatest mind of the whys and hows of what makes old things tick.
