Fixing the game of 9 ball.

I've always wondered what insanity posting would be like.

There is always a crazy old guy in the corner mumbling to himself and then intermittently yelling at strangers. This is what happens when the mentally ill were de-institutionalized.

I think he's drunk. He quotes himself then responds.
Quotes the same post twice and argues some more .
By the way, I don't drink alcohol, so your sarcasm is a waste of time and off topic!
So, don't reward someone for playing a great safe? Today, in situations where the player feels that they can't hit the ball or will sell out even if they do, they will tie balls up.

You are right I don't get it. Maybe get one of your sponsors to put up a bit of cash and get 2 pros to play for it with your proposed rules and let us see it.
You know what? The only people that care about great safeties is players, not the everyday, league playing, viewing audience, and ball bangers. And its those people who'll pay for streaming entertainment, NOT the pool players. So, keeping the game moving is important to keep from boring the viewing audience!! So I don't need to test it, as I know for a fact, players wanting to make a living will play under ANY rule changes i set to play by, if you don't believe that, then make a bet!!

Let YOU see it? Who are the YOU that needs to see it?

And just something to think about, tying balls up don't usually work out to well, when in doing so, you give up ball in hand too!!!

It was on-topic in response to the question Tate posed about crazy posting. But thank you for proving me correct when I said you couldn't quit me.

What are you anyway, the topic Karen?
Stick to the topic, if you can't, then don't post! Contrary to your beliefs, this thread isn't about you!!

On topic, are you going to keep blowing customers off? Who cares what you think of "fixing" the game?
It's clear you have nothing constructive to say, and all you want to do is distract from the topic of this thread, and be argumentative with everything you post!

I was outraged by your behavior and lack of accountability in how you treated your customer. Most of us were too. Now you come back and expect everybody to be nice to you?

Actually, I expect you to stop posting in my thread!

Then start posting something constructive! Have you tried the modified break, what was your results?
I tried it. My opinion was it put the breaker at a disadvantage in the game. It's similar to the 10 ball break but removes the 1 ball on the break. If I had to guess, breaker would be at a 40/60 disadvantage.

So because of that, do you feel it would put the players on a more level playing field after the break?

I know it would make it a lot harder to break and run. I've only tested it for a few racks but here's what I've found.

When I break in normal 9 ball, I'm trying to make the corner ball and send the one ball past the side pocket without catching a point, leaving the cue ball in the middle of the table for a shot on the 1 ball at one of the corners. Usually a ball is pocketed and the one ball is open for a shot or a safety. The break is a controlled medium firm break and I'm focusing on squeezing the one ball past the side pocket.

In your case, I think it favors a very hard break. I can get the one ball to bounce off the footrail and come up table, but there's no assurance of pocketing a ball. For that reason, the advantage goes to the incoming player.

But overall the point is, with two evenly matched players, unless they are pros, the break doesn't matter much. They should have similar turns at breaking in the long run. This would be an effective option at stopping packages from pros - at least until they figure it out.

So, basically with all world class Pros in an event, including some of the top women as well, it would pretty much base the game on the skills of the players more so after the break, instead of being separated BY the break. Which would basically put the women on an almost level playing field as the men.

What made you think it was miserable then?
I can give you 3 reasons. I will give one in this post...other 2 later , if interested.

It does not change the game. The incentive still is to duck instead of shoot. BIH is too big. It is too big of a punishment and too big of a reward. BIH warps the game. These rules just add another level of it. Miss the shot and it's BIH. I played it for hours 5-6 years ago. It is just no fun.

You do realize the push out is an option you don't have to take, right?
