Has anyone tried this particular supplement thats supposed to help you focus intenly on what your doing? Sounds to me like it could help your pool game. It's so hard to find a legal pill that will help you "zone in" on what your doing. The name of the supplement is "focus factor" it's a little expensive about 30 dollars a bottle so i thought i would check and see if anyone's tried it yet. Now i know of a prescription diet pill that will cause you to focus tried it a few times and i was on automatic for about 6 hours problem is you can't do it constantly or you'll end up having a freakin heart attack. Are there any legal supplements that will give you the same effect? Without the risk of death!

LOL I always laugh at the commercial cause the guy says something to the effect of "I've been using it for a year now...".

BUT, he has this lazy eye that doesn't move like the other one, so it's really kinda funny. "I'm on Focus Factor" and he's looking at the floor and celiing at the same time. LOL. Ironic anyways. :p

I tried focus factor once. I made every frickin' ball. Problem was I was too impatient to really think about the out or play safe etc... I ended up making great shots and getting killed.

I've thought about trying it again, now that I'm older and wiser, but just haven't bothered.

Cheers,

Mike used it but didn't like it, it made him too buzzed.

We called it by another name ! Lets see I think it was Mescaline I don't remember if it improved my game but that dark ole pool room sure looked a lot better!

Hmmm it's starting to sound like a caffiene pill or something and i don't like those at all they give me the jitters. But if you can get control of that buzzed feeling then it could still work thats what the diet pill did to me i was trippin out for about the first hour but after the initial shock wore off it would be dead stroke for about six hours and that was only a half of the diet pill.

I have a buddy that is in action all the time, and loves the stuff...Try it, might improve your game.

I'm no Dr. but I did sleep at a Holiday Inn last night.
Seriously...try taking two of the 12hr Sudafed...the good kind behind the counter....you have to show ID & sign for them here in NC now...state law.
You are only suppose to take 1...but thats for a runny nose...pool playing at high levels requires TWO. Or two of the 24hr...either one.
I'm not responsible if your heart skips a beat....but you won't miss a ball! ;)

Sudafed is , of course, ephedrine. Used to take it all the time until I got older. Good stuff. Used to play for 24 hours and go home with a sore jaw from gritting my teeth. If you can handle the shakes, rapid heart rate, paranoia, etc. it's good stuff. A couple of drinks with it helps the nerves. Caffeine and ephidrine are about the only way to get that effect legally now. Caffeine is the pits. Varney is right . A couple time release sudafed + a couple shots of Jack and your on your way. Anything they put behind the counter MUST be good.

All that stuff is tough to fade for the guy taking it and the opponent who has to fade it. Reminds me of that story in Buddy's book about matching up with Jimmy Reid and Jimmy was jumped up on snappers (speed/diet pills) and dying to play. They matched up five ahead and Buddy hit him with a five pack out the gate, leaving Jimmy busted and high as a kite. Jimmy reportedly said that's the rottenest thing anyone ever did to him.

After playing on the natural for most of my pool playing life I got turned on to pain pills and they work pretty good if you can get the ones that don't make you loopy. Speed and caffeine pills make me too edgy and don't improve my concentration one bit. Same thing for Ritilin and Concerta. Both of these just keep me awake but I get the whole teeth grinding thing going on.

In the end I have found that this works best. If I am not in pain, I just play on the natural and make sure to drink lots of water. Staying hydrated seems to do wonders for my concentration and my stamina. I seem to stay on a pretty even keel. If I am in pain then I'll take a half of a hydrocodone and the other half four to six hours later. And continue to drink lots of water. Going to the bathroom and washing my face and hands every hour or so rejuvenates me as well.

I have never gambled using coke but I have played on it and I can see why it's so tough to fade a coked up player. I was on the end of that one night to the tune of $200 a game and was a dime loser before I came back and won 1800. It sure was tough to fade the crazy outs though.

My personal reccomendation is to play on the natural whenever you can. Chasing the right mix is detrimental to your game and your mental health. My best wins have been on the natural and those have also been my best highs.

Non-perscription pocket rocket was my supplement of choice as a pup.

Made my heart skip a beat every now and then.

Three heart attacks prior to age fifty.

Think about it!!!

I knew that dam Varney was on something. Man he plays good for hours and I wondered cause he never left my sight. I'm going to Eckerd.

When we used to run around to tournaments together TK would start freaking out if he didn't have his Bee Pollen.

It is supposed to be a miracle for nerves & etc.. I believe I may have tried it a couple times but was too drunk to notice if it helped :)

Healing Power of Bee Pollen - Apitherapy
"Bee pollen is often referred to as nature's most complete food. Human consumption of bee pollen is praised in the Bible, other religious books, and ancient Chinese and Egyptian texts. It has long been prescribed by traditional health practitioners-including the fathers of Western medicine Hippocrates, Pliny the Elder, and Pythagoras-for its healing properties. Bee pollen rejuvenates your body, stimulates organs and glands, enhances vitality, and brings about a longer life span. Bee pollen's ability to consistently and noticeably increase energy levels makes it a favorite substance among many world class athletes and those interested in sustaining and enhancing quality performance." Ephedrine, caffeine and an acid found in aspirin combined together used to be a concoction that body builders and some athletes used to use for what was called a thermogenic effect to burn fat and theory was that it made your muscles work harder.
Combined it would trigger a heightened heart rate, elevation in temperature and a heightened awareness.
Later on, MuscleTech bottled the combination using herbal ingredients for the same stuff as Hydroxycut prior to the ephedrine ban.
Some people used this stuff because of the heightened awareness for working.

I tried both during the early 90's but not for playing pool.
Would not recommend it to anyone at all.
Always had a buzz.
With the pure forms of Ephedrine, caffeine and aspirin, I tended to get really hot and too hot to be outdoors on summer days.

2 things

Ginseng helps with being able to focus, and the prescription drug they give out for Alzheimers (a Phamicist friend in Indy turned me on to that one).

> I used to get this stuff from the local herb store called Focus Fuel,a liquid that is supposed to be pure Gingko Biloba. It worked for 5-6 hours, but had to be refreshed after that, and is some of the most vile tasting stuff on this planet. I'd have to drink a whole 20oz Pepsi to get the taste out of my mouth. Instead of using that now,I'll take a big handful of the Gingko capsules you get at Wal-Mart the night before a big tournament, and a couple the morning of,and get the same effect, but the liquid works faster. The liquid was 18.00 for a 4oz bottle with an eyedropper cap,the capsules are 6.00 for 100. Tommy D.

This appears to be a guide from the army that relates studies about the effectiveness of bee pollen and other supplements. I wonder if any of them work. http://chppm-www.apgea.army.mil/dhpw/wellness/dietary/Factsheets/Sup_table.pdf#search='BEE%20POLLEN%20DOES%20IT%20WORK'

Also, take a close look at what the army says about Ginko Biloba Extract.

It's the last one on the second to last section. Great question. Very interesting answers.
