For format of the CSI ten-ball was complete rubbish.

Don't casinos put up some money ?
They also have larger venues and can accommodate vendor booths .
Pool rooms ? Not so .
The casinos also get the sport much more exposure by having different demographics outside of pool players watching the sport .
No, they don't put up money, they get PAID for the use of their convention center, food, gambling, drinking, just like everyone else pays for the use of their convention centers!!

Just like Diamond don't get paid for the use of their tables in the US Open 9B event!!

I really liked the format from a fan/spectator/watch-ability standpoint.

Watching a bunch of different players in short races was far more entertaining than watching the same two guys drone about all day in an arbitrary race to fifteen-thousand, sometimes for days.

I think they're on to something here in terms of a format that increases viewers.

Spectators do require at least some sort of attraction to watch, if the Pro's dumped this format, who would watch then???

Do you really believe fans would PAY to watch this kind of format for pool if there was only amateurs playing, because it such good entertainment?

It sounds like you're calling for a player boycott of this event. Good luck with all that... First things first, you'd need all the players to agree with you. Worthless and laughable endeavor if serious, trying to get the players to boycott a big sponsor's event.

When you offer steak for dinner, no one wants to eat Top Ramen!!

No way a player boycott works even if ALL the players agreed with you (which they don't). Some of the top players would be contractually obligated regardless. Then there's your so-called dead money players, who certainly won't boycott because they feel like this format increases their odds (and in the short term maybe it does, but not in the longrun).

I agree that the shootout is a flawed way to decide a match- kind of comparable to World Cup soccer matches being decided on penalty kicks.

however, it does make for some added suspense and interest. For example, my wife (who doesn’t really play pool) actually watched some of the shootouts because of the pressure and suspense

And nobodies interested in watching a bunch of dead money players playing each other. Players don't have contracts prohibiting them from playing in any money events, sorry!

So top players who are sponsored by Predator are going to boycott their own sponsors event? Good luck with that.
So Predator is going to tell them NO, you can't play in a PRO event NOT sponsored by Predator???? Last time I checked, the US Open 9B event is NOT sponsored by Predator, yet LOTS of players with Predator ENDORSEMENT contrats are playing in it!!! See, where you're confused is Predator DON'T pay players unless they sign a SALES ENDORSEMENT CONTRACTwith Predator, which still DON'T pay the players for NOT winning events, thats ON THEM!

I never said they won't play in sponsored events, but I guarantee you, if there's more money to be won in OTHER events, those SPONSORS are going to have a CONFLICT of interest with the players who want to play for MORE MONEY, and not play against amateurs!!!

Nobody is saying Predator dis-allows them to play in events not sponsored by them.

Nobody said anything about Predator dis-allowing them to play in events not sponsored by them.
And what happens when events that PAY are held during the same time as Predator sponsored events? Is PREDATOR prepared to start PAYING players NOT to attend other, higher paying events?

Likely, everyone else is better informed and more knowledge than me and certainly everyone else is a better pool player but observing the myriad of problems involved with promoting and conducting pool events, it seems the complete inconsistency of rules from event to event is the primary culprit. Professional events are the same as bar table events throughout the country: "We put on the tournaments and we make the rules; period. It seems to me that cannot/will not, change until players and vendors organize and sanction only events who abide by an accepted set of rules. Have no idea how or if this can happen. In the meantime I'll choose the "organized" I want to watch.
