For Sale McDaniel lazy S Szamboti tribute in ebony and purpleheart

This is one of perhaps as many as 40 Lazy S cues made by Bill McDaniel from 2003 up until his retirement in 2007. Only 4 or 5 were made in this ebony and purpleheart combination. Original retail was $5,000.

Szamboti style, 8 purple heart points (4 long and 4 short) into a cored ebony forearm. Each of the points has an ivory spear inlaid within the purpleheart point. There are inlaid large alternating with small peacocks at the base of the points. Below that there 8 silver rings with ivory inlays at the base of each point, each surrounded with a ring of ebony. The purple heart butt sleeve has opposing ivory peacock schemes and 4 large ebony windows that feature sharp cut ivory diamonds and silver outlined dots at the corner of each window. It has a piloted ivory joint (5/16-14). There are inlaid ivory "lazy S" rings at A, B, D, and E. An ivory butt cap. Full sets of ivory joint protector with the S rings.- Black calf leather wrap. Lenght:58". The butt weighs 14.7 ounces and each of the shafts weigh 3.8 ounces, so currently 18.5 ounces with the current weight bolt. Can easily be adjusted upward with a larger weight bolt.

The cue comes with one 13mm unhit McDaniel ivory ferruled shaft with a Moori tip. The second shaft is a test hit only 13mm ivory ferruled McDaniel shaft with a non-layered tip, unknown brand. The cue is in new condition. Besides being an amazing looking cue it has tremendous balance and a great hit due to it's construction and ivory components.

Asking price is $3900LOWERED to $3600 delivered USPS Priority Mail, fully insured, signature required within the continental US. Outside the US additional shipping charges will be assessed. Please PM with questions regarding this cue and any potential cash only offers.

***Noted cue maker Dan Dishaw is available to me as an escrow service. I will pay his fee. Payment goes to him, the cue is shipped by him and then the payment is released to me. He would also be available to verfy this cue's conditon as new, only 1 test hit shaft. Therefore there should be absolutely no worries to the potential buyer of this beautiful cue***

Look at that Ivory work in Amaranth. Absolute perfection in every aspect. No glue lines, filler, wicking in the Amaranth, or any other aspect less that perfect. That is no small accomplishment, rather a study in how precision inlays are done.

Tommy and William, thanks for the comments on the cue, it is just stunning work. I'm honored to have this cue, if even for just a little while.

Amen to that! Bill, Jess, and Tommy where a hell of a team! I'm fairly sure Bill Mcdaniel Custom Cues, only made a few Lazy S cues with purple heart. Good luck with sale!

I would be shot(!) by the wife for buying this cue, but an important note should be made about it. Yes, its gorgeous. the work is flawless. But even more important is the joint. Yes, there are arguments about how much contact there is between the shaft and joint in a 5/16x14 ss joint, but whatever it is, its even less with an ivory joint. Can't stress ivory or else you'll crack it. Many different fixes for this, but this one appears to be a piece of phenolic inside the ivory, which makes for a very reliable and great hitting joint. Nice, nice stuff.

The black material inside the ivory joint may be phenolic or a rubber type material. Yes the black joint lining material is phenolic, just like the collar on the shaft. The sides of the brass insert on the shaft sits down against the black material and makes a very tight joint. The cue has an amazing hit, no doubt due to the ivory ferrule, and this unique joint construction.

I know this price may put this cue a bit out of reach for some McDaniel fans, but it's worth every penny. In order to help make the sale I will consider cash/trade offers with other McDaniel models. In handling just 2 of his cues I have already become a great fan of his. I would be particularly interested in any of the ebony /ivory cues he made so send the offers along with pictures. I can provide my email if anyone requests it via PM. I realy want to sell this cue to someone who appreciates it. Thank you.

Master9baller, get a hold of Ralf (Big-Tattoo). He is looking for one.

I posted this link on his thread.

I know the ivory might be an issue, but see if he will be @ the SBE and try to work something out.

This cue is a little out of my range, otherwise I'd love to own this cue.

Good luck with the sale, although "luck" is a moot point with this cue.

Yes, Ralf and I had talked about this cue. I would be happy to sell it to him, things with us got a little mixed up, but I hope we're cool:smile:.

I will be at the SBE myself so if I still have this cue by then I can certainly bring it there to show to anyone who's interested. SBE is just 27 days away, I can't wait.

McDaniel cues

Ralf, those are real beauties. I'm not too familiar with the cues off to the right hand side in the picture beside the Lazy S cues. If they are in the $2000-$2500 range maybe we could work a cash plus cue deal. Otherwise the floor is your's to make a cash offer as we had discussed:wink:.

As far as trade plus cash offers I was thinking more about lower end McDaniel cues with ebony points and ivory like the the Q6, Q8 Q 66 or Q 88. Or anything else that would be valued in the $1500-$2500 range. This would allow a true McDaniel fan to "trade up" to this monster cue.

I really love his work, but I think my playing with this Lazy S cue is not a great idea. I don't want to depreciate it any and don't want to scare of any of that $10 action!

PM me with trade offers or cash offers. I have lots more pictures that I can send via email if anybody needs them.

Bump

Looking for cash offers or combination McDaniel cue trades/cash offers. I would be happy to get a McDaniel player and a bit of cash in exchange to this Monster. Anybody who is looking to trade up to this awesome cue, PM me. I'm expecting this cue to move by the end of the weekend, just too nice and too rare.

Bump

Possible trade in the works and one cash offer that's close to my lowest acceptable price. If anybody wants this amazing cue it may be now or never.

Again I would be interested in a mid-level McDaniel plus cash trade for this cue if anyone wants to step up to a higher level McDaniel. I really like the ebony/ivory cues, even the more basic ebony point Q6 and Q8. PM today.

Bump

Still available, see above for potential trade/cash possibilities. This cue is stunning, ebony and purpleheart look amazing together.

Bump for PRICE DROP
