For Sale-One of a kind Black Bore Cue

Is this made my the same guy who makes Nottamoochi's, McDermic's, and Playa's??? Just wondering!!

Gary

Real Deal

The cue is the real deal, Gary had Tony add the ivory borders and inlays to the cue at the time the cue was ordered in the late 80's. The cue has been retired since about 1995, I did the cue maintanance at Billiards on Broadway in Fargo ND. Gary is very honest and respected in the Fargo area, he just started playing again and didn't want to worry about the BB, so he purchased a hustler from Mike Pages Fargo Billiards. I recently talked to Gary and he informed me he was thinking about selling the BB, he recently talked to Tony to get some history on the cue and what the cue was worth. I told him to post the cue on AZ, why hasn't he posted again? Might be upset over the comments that were made, just think if every cuemaker that took an order made fun of spelling? Gary a good person looking to sell a cue to someone who will enjoy it.

Black Boar Cue

I think it's fantastic that Gary is an honest person, however the way this sale was posted sent many signals that this was a possible scam.
At best for his very first post on the forum it was unusually insensitive to the concerns we all have for each other, and this isn't Ebay.
Someone could have explained how things work on this forum prior to his first post, and since there is a prolific scammer that keeps coming back under different user names, based on how poorly this sale was written people were bound to think it was him or someone like him.

Poor spelling has nothing to do with the way this offering was perceived.
Many people don't pay attention to their spelling and that's not the issue.
The ribbing was a normal reaction since this did not seem legitimate.
When the seller is known or has someone vouch for him upfront, nobody cares about spelling.
If someone wants to come on AZ for the first time and sell a collectible but modified Black Boar cue with no price or specifications, a little respect for the fact that this isn't Ebay and we do watch out for each other would have precluded all of the ribbing he took...JMO

it was easy for me to recognize, that this is not a "bark"-post. just not his style...

so what about all the red lights? where do they come from? was this neccessary

a greenie for you, gary!

sneak_peter,

No this wasn't necessary and if people weren't interested in Black Boar cues nobody would have cared.
I rarely get involved in these situations but I would like to get a Black Boar cue for my collection.
I found it to be one of the most unusual sales offerings I have ever seen on AZ Billiards, especially for someone selling an expensive for for the first time on the forum.
I didn't see anyone debating this, and Bark does change his style.
If nothing else, it was posted more like an Ebay seller and that is what got to most people, including me.
This cue is obviously important to the seller if he retired it in the 90's, so starting this thread could have been a lot better thought out to say the least.
Reading Gary's post was like deja vu for so many fake auctions we have all seen on Ebay.

I don't red-rep anyone, and I will green rep Gary once the situation plays out a little more.
When the cue is sold and the buyer is happy I will green rep him again.

Peace

Ted

My question was legitimate based on the way the OP worded his post. I wondered if the OP added the inlays to the cue as he stated. Sounds like he meant that he had Tony add the inlays to the AS-4 design when he built it. WAY different meaning.

If you added the ivory outline and the ivory eclipses I guess it would be a "one of a kind".

Serious inquiries only for a Black "Bore", ivory "ferrel' and my-carta ferrel, both made by Will Ferrel.

Pics & specification's please, and does it come with j/p's.

I was thinking the same thing. Then you get someone with a few posts saying he is a great honest guy.

There is quite a lot of negativity on az.

I for one just come here to see the pics of all the nice cues myself

Dandu! Whereru?

Is the OP ever gonna come back?

Attention Collectors! For sale...AS 5 unique Black Bore Cue! Original owner. Created cue in early 1980's and ordered directly from Tony himself! Very well taken care of. Stored for 15 years. Two shafts, one with ivory ferrel and one with mycarta ferrel. Beautiful cue...collectible series...only a few made! Tony only made two series of the AS collection. One set was sent to Japan, the other set was made for the United States. I added an ivory outline on the points and ivory eclipses in the points, making it one of kind. I have a price in mind, but looking for the highest bidder. Serious inquiries only. Please email for more information and to view pictures: smedandurand@yahoo.com

The Black Boar Is Real

Wow, what a bunch of chatty guys and gals. I am trying to help my husband sell his cue and it is obvious we didn't do our reseach. Thank you for making us feel stupid. To answer some questions...yes, the cue is real and was ordered from Tony from a catalog and a phone call in the late 1980's or early 90's, yes, he did all of the work, and yes, it is an AS4 and not an AS5...opps :( and yes, it is in excellent shape. If you're interested email us as I cannot get the attachment to work (and I really did try.) So glad to get to meet you all, what a fine bunch of people. Oh, I do like parties and I don't get "BOARD." Yes, I spelled that wrong on purpose. A sincere thanks to those who were nice, especially Marc and Jaydog.

Ok well the way you stated it, it sounded like you inlayed the ivory veneer yourself. Now that its been clarified you might get more interest. Since you are new here I suggest using an escrow service. Good luck with your sale.

Whoa There

How do we know who's fingerprint that is BTW!! Is it an authentick Black Bore print or what. It could add significent value to that newspaper...
Good Luck with your sale nice cue!
