Good day to all!

A few years back, I got the, { ASK THE CUEMAKER and the CUE MACHINERY}, forums started here. Many have ask great questions and many have been answered. It's a shame to see both of these great topics, stray from what they were put here for.

Lots of qualifided cuemakers have come aboard and helped others....Keep it up.. thanks guys.....

It's sad to see anyone get bashed, by others, I got bashed many times, and that's OK, I do know that I have helped many up coming cuemakers here, and that folks, makes me feel proud to of helped so many.
If you have an issue with someone, over whatever, I think it should be between you too, and kept private... We all need to know who's who, and we can inform each other VIA-Private Mail...

Most of these threads seem to turn into a BASHING FORUM. I've made mistakes saying things as most of us have, and I do not come here and bash anyone. I maybe up front and tell it like it is, but do not wish to hurt anyone.

None of us have it all figured out, we all can talk and help each other. Try it, you might learn more about cues and machinery.......

Hopefully, these bashing tails will go away, and stick to helping each other.
I thank all who read this, and hope I have not hurt anyone.
good luck to ALL.

I'm with you Blud

Tap, tap, tap.

I myself have succumbed to the temptation to post some sarcastic comments that only fueled the fire in some of the "bashing" threads. That is over and my apologies to anyone the I offended.

I miss the "old" forum and the free (friendly) exchange of information. Now, when I see a thread that has a bunch of posts, I don't even bother to click on it....I know it's just a pissing contest.

Hi Blud
The thought was right even though I said what would happen has happened, This forum needs a moderator who is a Cue maker and who cares about the future of Pool cues and can filter out the B.S. and Snake oil. It is long past due.

That's a good idea.

That's a good idea, but those who apply, [if any], better have thick-skin..
who wants the job???????
no way I would do it....

Maybe the best thing to do, is pay no attention to those threads....
write about good stuff.....

Hi Bill,
old ain't so bad, we all had good times when there was no bashing, we all had much to share and learn. The way it is today, it's tuff to come on here for fear of someone bashing you for your opinion...

I have many friends who are great cuemakers, who would come here, but they will not come aboard because of some who bash and bash and will not let others learn at all...so the bashers run off quailty folks, and some of the others, stay and put up with the BS....

Now that would really piss a couple of people off, wouldn't it.
Yes, I guess so. Problem with me doing it, I would tell it like it is, some can't handle the truth, but not up for the job, you could not pay me to do it...over and out....

Hopefully reason will prevail.

I hope it does, too. I'm not a CM, just a player who has a deep interest in the equipment of the game, how it's made, and how to make it better. IMO, this is the best section of this forum. The willing exchange of information has been invaluable to anyone with an interest in the craft. In my other hobby (see avatar) machinists are a critical element. As a group, the best of the bunch tend to be some of the more catankerous, opinionated folks you'll ever come across-but some of the most solid people you'll ever meet. I just hope all the contributors here weather the BS that sometimes prevails, and stick around for the mutual benefit of all.

The medium here is such that there will always be disagreements and misinterpretations.
People feel safe when they are all alone behind their computers, and don't have to look someone in the eye when they talk. This leads to much being said that would never come out in person.
Also, there are some people with egos that don't allow them to admit when they are wrong, or back down when they should.
It's just the nature of the internet, either deal with it or GTFO. :D
Moderating is sometimes necessary, but only for serious misuse of the forum. If people start deleting posts they don't agree with, that gets into censorship, which most of us really don't want.

Well, I cut and paste my post from a thread called "AZ used to be my favorite web site" where I mentioned the following which I think applies to Bluds idea as well:

I have to say that the mentioned problem has affected my participation the last couple of months.
I have actually looked at other forum pages, but this forum still feels like home.

However, many of the bashing threads seems to be migrating far from the subjects where people simply start throwing
$hit on each other because they had some kind of discussion in a earlier "fight".

For me, this is no good reading, where the actual topic may be of interest but the the whole thing ends in a total mess.

I have been in tough discussions on this forum but I have tried to do so in a civilized way and if I have been stepping on some
ones feelings or the discussion starts to get out of line, I stand up - think for a moment and leaves the discussion.
I do however have a open heart and can appreciate the same person I have been arguing with in other threads and have a positive and friendly discussion at a later stage.

For me this is basic common sense, I do no enter a thread started by a person I have been discussing hard with earlier, just to post a negative post just to pick on a person again. This seems to happen quite so often and I feel the value of some of the threads has therefor gone down.

For me the forum has been a good inspiration in my quest of getting better in pool where I have been participating in positive threads and also in heated battles - but when the evening is over I leave it at that and archive my new learned experience and knowledge.

Lets try to continue in this way where we as a community could tie bonds and get friends all over the world and at the same time share experiences and knowledge without the needs of kicking our fellow member whenever he posts and we see the opportunity.

Mike, we have been friends for a long time, and I realize your teasing, but some may not, I would never do such a thing, so I ask you to, please refrain from posting this kind of stuff. It just causes trouble, down line, somewhere some place.....Why can't we stick to the subject matter, of cuemaking?
thanks

What would Mom do?

Our mothers had it right. If you don't have something good to say, then don't say anything at all. Simple really.

Mr H <-- holding out hope for much less drama.

i agree. bashing is no good for our buisness. afterall just about every maker got into this bc they love it. its suppose to be fun. ever if full time

however. if you do something that warrants a bashing then you get what you deserve. if you screw someone over then tell him to go f" himself. what other recourse is there then to come on a public forum and say "hey look what this guy did to me." its not exactly bashing. thats what azb is for.

also we do have certin makers that arent smart enough to have a simple debate without saying FU or you have no clue or attack you skills without ever even seeing your work. thats where tempers flair. unintelligent ppl scream use curse words to fill sentences when they are mentally out matched.

bottom line i guess is there are alot of nice guys here but in the end of the day some dont care at all who they screw or how ppl feel about them. there are 3 or 4 names that are CONSTANTLY brought up in this conversation.
