Looks altered.

The White in the rear should match the white at the joint. It looks decades newer. Plastic against plastic also should not swell and shrink. Taking the weight bolt out on those old Cues is a no no. Looks like someone took the bolt out and tried their best to line things up. They might have cut on it to hide their boo boo.

Actually there are a few elements that resemble Paradise:

The buttplate does look like a Paradise. Frank recessed his weight screws in a bit, and did not turn them down at all. In other words, they filled up the space inside the buttplate pretty well, unlike a Rambow, for example.

The butt sleeve does look like something Paradise did. He did a lot of very short, simple ones. This could have been one.

The joint collar does look like Paradise. He did a lot of white collars with the black plastic on the outer edges, but sometimes had black on each edge, as did Palmer in the 60s and early 70s.

The points are a bit of a problem. When Frank did inlays, he usually did them in veneered points, either a Titlist blank, or presumably Spain or other blank. This would be the first Paradise I've seen that had inlays into a plain non-veneered point.

I would say not a Paradise, but not because nothing resembled his, given the above. The points, for me, say it's more likely a Meyer or Fedunka. I don't think it's a Palmer.

No wonder they all sign their cues today.

If it has an aluminum screw that the ferrule threads on and off of that makes me tend to think it came from either Palmer or Paradise. But cues by either maker without a logo are not common. Could be a Palmer built for another private label reseller with the sticker long gone..

Forgot to menfion one more item that does speak Paradise. The shaft joint brass inserts. The surrounding maple wood goes all the way to the edge of the brass inserts, one of the signature details of Paradise, but not Palmer. Even though I have doubts it's a Paradise, I don't think it's a Palmer.

Gonna have to stick with my original assessment on this, with all due respect. While a few things may look a little like Paradise did things, that's all it amounts to. It's not his work, not Palmer's either, imo. Karl Meyer is the best possibility I've heard but I'm not too familiar with all his work. Neat old cue, definitely seems like NJ pedigree.

Karl Mayer worked with palmer and paradise.. so i am sure you would see alot of influences in his cues from both cuemakers..

that black buttcap and the shape of it really reminds me of Mayer cues..

it looks very similar to these.. but with inlays..

mayer_1980front_hi.jpgI think it's a Karl Mayer. Not shabby. I have a Paradise (ex. Jerry Ohrbach) but I think my Karl Mayer is the nuts.

Hey

It sounds like the cue is a Karl Mayer. Anyone have any ideas on what the value of it is............

i would say value would probably be about $150 to $250..

just goinging buy what past cues sold for on the forum and ebay..

maybe somebody more in the know with the new jersey cue maked like Joe Van can chime in..
