Frankenstein a Darrin Hill Monster

Hi,

For the last month, my good friend and mad scientist cue maker Darrin Hill has been working into the wee hours in the morning creating The Monster Cue "Frankenstein".

I run a Friday night weekly tournament at my Pool Hall and when Darrin told me he was coming to play, I told him to bring the cue and I would bring my camera. Since Darrin's computer is out of service at this time I told him I would post this sneak peek of the monster for him.

When I saw the cue I immediately named it Frankenstein and Darrin agreed to the name.

Frankenstein is a double full spliced and butterflied 8 point veneered cue. The handle is cored Amboyna Burl and the forearm and aftarm are made of maple burl and are split with ebony and ivory. The joint is ivory and the rings are also ivory stitched.

This cue is been built for a very special guy who lives overseas and it is about to be clear coated.

I won't bore you guys with all of the details, but believe me the technical and artful skills sets needed to bring this cue down to final dimension taper reveals the masterful way Darrin kept all of the geometry on center is truly amazing. I can't wait to see these woods, points and butterflies pop under the clear coat.

While the style is not aesthetically pleasing to me, the work is amazing.

I can hear a horse just thinking the name Frau Blucher.

I concur. And i like fullsplice cues.

But the work is top notch.
 
I like the look of this cue a lot! Layered...almost 3-D or something..

Rick I understand how much work went into that cue. I absolutely love it, it is certainly a 1 of 1 design and a true work of art. I can only hope my ability will reach that level in the future.

This Cue Demands Respect- Picture worth 10,000 words

This cue sayes Plability all the way! Full Splice,Cored. Beautiful looking butterful splice combinations- I love the feel and look of Cored Amb-- burl. It has an old school with a New Flare of its own . Skil skil skil - My hats off to You Mr. Darrin Hill!! Mark

what is planned for shaft selections ?
 
Very different I must say, but I kinda like it. Like everyone else says amazing craftsmanship. :thumbup: Very nice cue you have there.
