Fred Agnir

It's kind of like ...

I'm sorry but I disagree. You can say you agree to disagree and move on. These two guys wrote volumes of BS and it wasn't worth it. If one of them had said shortly after realizing they weren't going to change the other's opinion, "Let's just agree to disagree", they would have saved a whole lot of bandwidth. What did either of them accomplish by running on and on and on? Now one of them is quitting for some reason that may remain a mystery and for what? Fred has a lot to offer this forum and should remain on it. If he doesn't and quits, we all suffer including him.

It's kind of like 2 guys sharing one computer, each having half of the hard drive, and being asked "What is relevant information to keep on the hard drive", and then them arguing an eternity over their opinions, and then having
one guy quit using the computer altogether because they have different
opinions of how best to use the hard drive. I guess Fred decided to go find
his own computer that he doesn't have to share. But, somehow, that just
doesn't sound like Fred ...

I met him at bca nationals in Vegas in May, I enjoyed speaking with him then as much as I enjoy reading his posts now

I've met Fred a number of times: Jimbo's Jambo, Derby City, Super Billiards Expo, and each time he is an articulate, respectable, and friendly individual. I also read his column on cue makers each month (nice one on Jack Justis this month BTW).

Sure, he can be hard in some posts, but who isn't guilty of this. Benjamin Disraeli said, "it is easier to be critical than correct" and that holds true for all of us at one time or another. Sometimes, it just happens...

If Fred asked to be removed, that is his prerogative. I'm sure he will stop by every now and then, and if you need a "fred fix" you can *gasp* look at other forums where he is still posting regularly.

Where does he write a column? Is it online?

If he doesnt come back its a loss to you all...that man loves all aspects of pool. I can talk to him anytime but his posts reach the masses <shakin head in disgust>

I agree that Fred has a lot to offer this forum and should not leave. But if that is what he wants to do, he should just stop posting. What's the point of changing your posting status?

He was making a statement... He's left this forum as a registered user. That's his prerogative. There have been others who were booted, for various reasons. If they really wanted to post on here, I've heard it's a very doable thing. But they choose not to. That's their choice, and I respect it.

Fred, I'll miss your very interesting posts here, and will seek out your commentary elsewhere.

Fred made a lots of good posts, with his membership being that of a GUEST we can no longer Search the Archives for his Words of Wisdom.....

As Johnny Carson used to say- "I did not know that."

Fred writes for Inside Pool Magazine called "Cuemakers Corner." Each month he highlights another cuemaker (or casemaker this month ;))

My observation had already been that Fred was not getting as much respect or admiration out of A-Z as he was on the CCB. I migrated over here for no other reason than I found the melting pot of personalities far more interesting. As my own knowledge increased, I needed more stimulation and a larger information bank to draw from.

I felt that Fred was very well respected and admired on CCB. Really, there he was like a god who was rarely challenged, at least not at his level. Here he was a mortal because A-Z is a much bigger pond.

Before all this even happened, I wondered if Fred was burnt out on all this stuff. Same arguments, rehashed again and again. Turnover of posters, new misinformation daily. I could read it in his words. There are times when you just need to take a break, recharge and re-group.

I wonder if the world of pool is large enough, interesting enough, or challenging enough for someone like Fred. Personally, I think he should just regroup and get back over here. He needs to find his love of the game again. But if he gets nothing else out of it, not even a thank you for his work and contributions, then I don't blame him for not coming back. I am more concerned that this is his step toward leaving the game altogether.

You can try that, but we both know some people won't let it rest with that - then you have to ignore them...unless you are married to them - then you go to counseling :) Hopefully Fred will be back - like you say, we all suffer when someone with his knowledge and sociability leaves.

I think he will suffer because he left without resolving it. It's one thing to leave a forum just because you've had enough of it but quite another to leave with unresolved issues. It will nag him and who needs that.

Unresolved issues?. Jesus, it's just a pool forum, it's not like Fred and Craig were dating. I'm pretty sure Fred won't require counselling because he left without kissing and making up.
:D

You got me! This reflect my normal stance. I guess I just got a little off kilter. My only excuse is that I just got off a cruise to Mexico and haven't gotten my shore legs back yet.

Are you SURE they weren't dating? It sure sounded like a lovers quarrel. "I'm RIGHT and you're WRONG." "No, no I am right and you are WRONG." "OK, why don't you just drop it?" "I will if you will." "You always make me wrong." "No I DON'T." "SEE".

I am not saying who was the husband and who was the wife but I heard on the rumor line that THE ONE was demanding half of Fred's pool cues a co-writing credit for his articles and Fred has a restraining order where he is not allowed to discuss snooker so he left to stay at his Mother's over on CCB for awhile while THE ONE got to stay in the house.

Well maybe Fred Agnir will change his mind and return after a cooling off period....?

... or maybe he'll come back and get active on RSB again. We miss you even more over there and all you have to so is filter a couple of dozen names and you don't have to deal with Fast Larry.
No Jimbo anymore, no Fred, what's this world coming to?

Hi Wayne,

Being an old married man, that really gave me a good laugh. By the way, Fred hasn't posted on CCB either since September 28.
