Frederic CAUDRON Billiard cue

Does anyone know if F. Cudron's new cue is worth buying? Has anyone tried yet playing with it? Any feedback...?

That's a shame, because I was considering on getting one of his Layani Chameleon Cues.

I am the layani dealer for north america, and Caudron line of cues is still available, in fact I have the blankenberg II (#11) in stock ready to ship.
you can visit my website @ www.customcuelathes.com or call me @ 248-884-4469 / Email: customcuelathes@yahoo.com

PS: I will also have Caudron New Billiard cue in stock in the next couple of week.

I have spoken with Caudron about his new line of cues, and he speaks very highly of it. I will be selling them in the US very soon, just working out the final details.
you can call me or email me for more info.

But this seem like a total package, the question is. Is he just selling his Name Brand Line, but still playing with LAYANI CUES ?

The Video is kind of old , even it has been posted recently,
He is been working on this plan for at least a year and he got it done by beginning of september , while he played the belgium tour with the new cue, as well a the world cup in sluiskill!

I thought I might throw in a few comments in order to clear things out. I have worked with F. Caudron for 4 years, being one of his sponsors. We had developed together what we had called the Layani Caudron Collection. Since 2010, Frederic decided to go his own way and had a cue made for him by another cuemaking company under his own name. Frederic is admired throughout the world for his accomplishment and I know he had always wanted to have his own "brand". Now he does and I'm very happy for him. He helped me quite a lot and I'm sad not to have him play with my cues anymore, but that's life. I have now over 25 Master players all over the world playing with my cues so I can't complain. Even though Frederic's name is not on my cues anymore, it is still exactly the same quality as it was. Layani Cues remains Layani cues.

Thank Thierry Layani, for clearing this up. I never have the opporuntity to play with a Layani cues, but hopeful one day I'll get a chance.

Gilbert [Fox], Thank for the added info.

But that is a nice Cue Package F. Caudron got.

I have played with a Layani more than once and it hits very well. I recommend it to anyone who wants a top of the line cue.

layani

well folks

i play with Layani cues since my beginning on 3 cushion billiards ... in fact Thierry made is first 3 cushion cue for me, and another one in 2002 with another spcifications - but weight near the 590 gr.
recentelly i bought him 3 more carom shaft.
no way i´m gonna change my Layani cues for another brand or kind of joint just because caudron ( one of my favourites ) or any other change to other cues.
just love the hit of a layani ... the way it sounds and the way it plays.
i´m just a medium player ... around 0,800 average ( season end ) but i´ve allready tried many cues and read a lot about the subject so i believe i know some thing´s about the issue.
at your disposal and compliments to all
Layani forever.

Well, I still don’t have a carom cue. I will however get one in the near future. I love the way Ron Kilby’s cues look. Having said that, I have not ever hit with one and don’t know anyone here in SoCal that has one I could try/hit with.

One thing that I’m puzzled about is, at Ron’s website caromcues.com, in the “inventory” section where he has some gorgeous examples, he lists the weight of a cue in “oz and gms”, however his equation is 30 gms for each oz instead of the traditional 28.349. That has confused me as I’m not sure which weight he starts with. For example if he has weighed a cue w/18oz then the real weight in grams should be 510.3 gms instead of the 540 gms he has listed. However, if he starts the process with grams (540 gms), then the actual weight in oz should be 19.03.

At any rate I believe I prefer the traditional wood joint types over the Shuler joint, and the conical one the Layanis have, even though both Shuler and Layani look beautiful. I will probably end up with a Ron Kilby cue just because I want to support a USA maker/builder.

In closing I think the amount of skill/knowledge/experience one has, goes a lot further than what kind of cue he plays with.

Don't forget about Dieckman. He might be a little weird, but he makes great carom cues fro his shop in Michigan. If you ask nice, someone from this forum might sell you one.

Lambros

Hi,

I know that M Lambros also do a incredible billiard cue.

I havn´t tried a Layani but he is on my "list", will be a pool cue. Have only heard god things about their playability!

Just want to throw in that Schuler is very nice hitting cue and also made in U.S.A. I have a Layani Blankenberge, A Ray Schuler and one Longoni Edfedra wood pin joint. I love them all
