Free Information Resources?

Like many of you, I'm trying to step my game up this year. I plan on setting aside 4-6 hours a week to practice drills. I know this isn't much but I can't commit to more at the moment. Life gets in the way!

Aside from practicing drills, I want to soak up as much free knowledge as possible. I want to allot another hour weekly to read articles.

What are some good free resources that you guys can recommend I add to my browser bookmarks? For example, I know there's an "Instructional" tab on AZ's main page. Good YouTube channels are also appreciated...

I have an Evernote notebook that I've been using to collect various billiards systems, diagrams, words of wisdom, ephemera, etc.

I've been meaning to post on the subject. It would really be cool to get a 'web-ring' of billiards players to start Evernote notebooks and publically share the resource.

Anyone interested?

For a treasure chest of videos and articles, check out Dr. Daves site at:

http://billiards.colostate.edu/

The info there should keep you occupied for quite a while.

Good luck

I have evernote on my phone but never use it. Is there some built-in way to share the contents of your notes with other people? That would be pretty handy.

Yes, you can share notebooks. You can also make them publicly available via URL.

Send me a PM and I'll add you. I'm not promising the world, but it's a small collection of useful billiards stuff.

Visit Tor Lawry's Face Book page.

Tons of great stuff on there. Many drills posted daily. Lots of UTube vids.

Check it out El Guapo. Or I'll send the Three Amigos after you.

A good DVD collection is useful, as well.
And, if you haven't already, learn to play One Pocket. You'll thank Grady and me later.

Bookmarked!

Thank you, Bob Jewett's articles were the ones I was going to specifically request.

I use Evernote and would be interested but can you expand a little bit more on what it would include?

His was some of the first information I read when I got into pool. I made sure to bookmark it for review. Thanks.

Could you please link the page? A search of that name brought back many results and none that seemed pool related.

Funny that you mention the movie, I've never actually seen it but have heard about it a few times because of my name. I actually want to change my name on here but a PM I sent to a mod went unanswered. Not high on the to-do list for them hahaha.

It's a beautiful game!!! At the pool hall I shoot at, I watch the better players play it all the time. My CB control isn't quite good enough you but I do have Scott Frost's Power One Pocket...

"I am still here, el Guapo..." hahahahhaha I love that line :grin-square:

Seriously though... I too have been trying to absorb as much knowledge as I could. I started ordering a few books here and there from amazon then I realized I pay taxes. I decided to take a few minutes to search through the public library's online catalog. I was so surprised to see that they had many titles I was trying to buy online available at one branch or another. Then I find out they will send the ones that aren't local to my branch for pick up and it only costs $0.25. I have so far read more than a dozen books from the library and there are still a few I haven't read yet.

So do yourself a favor and check out your local library! Dang... am I on Reading Rainbow??? Where's Kunta Kinte :rotflmao:

El Guapo, try Zero X Billiards. That is Tor's web site. He does have one free video on there. The rest are reasonable at $10 per video.

Follow the bouncing ball as we read along now!

I've read a handful of books from the library also but LA County doesn't charge a quarter to have them transferred. LA County 1- OC County 0 hahaha

Will do! I'm all for trying things myself no matter what the knock is on it.

Same way I give everyone a chance no matter what beef they may have with other people I know. In HS, I had two friends that were from different "crews" that would throw blows every time they saw each other.

I wasn't in a crew, they were both my friends.

I think Dr Dave (the link has been posted) has put an incredible amount of time doing this in a internet catalog way. See what he's already done and find out how you can add to or improve what he's doing.

Freddie <~~~ no sense in starting from zero

Evernote? hmmmm, must check this out.

Thanks

(Sells phones for a living but barely can use them)
