Email sent John. I own 4 Instroke cases coz I believe they offer the best protection for my cues but the only thing that I did not like is that these cases are heavy. I don't own any of the competitors cases (Whitten, Justis, Talisman, etc) so I don't know if those are as heavy as the Instroke cases. If there was a way that your new case can offer the same kind of protection as the Instroke cases but with a considerable reduction in weight, that would be perfect. As far as the look, I kinda like the Instroke Cowboy look... nothing too fancy. Thanks!

sounds good!

I'm in on the raffle, I guess I have 2 tickets as I have owned a "few" instrokes. Glad to see you back building cases. Now to the design board .....:D

Actually, I am experimenting with several different ways to provide a high level of impact protection with reduced weight. I should be able to do it.

I only used tubes in the beginning because that's what my Flowers case had and they were readily available from the hardware store.

In later years I realized what a pain a heavy case can be if you have to carry it for any length of time - especially after I had to lug it from the back ballroom in Vegas to my hotel across the street.

So yes, reduction in weight without a reduction in protection is my holy grail.

i'll definitely get one, but not right now cuz i have no money, just bought a carmeli. i'll get in touch in a few months.

John what is your opinion on Carbon Fiber for the tubes? light and highly protective ( ie. anti crush) .. I am looking forward to seeing your finished product!! I love Jack's work and know yours will be of similar quality..

PS.. any word on those home grown to your new area, cues to test drive ??

Carbon fiber ....... That might drive the prices into orbit.. one of my other hobbies is biking... and Carbon it the "it" thing for frames and components but the builders are starting to worry that some new aircraft designs that are moving into production will eat up the carbon faster than it can be produced.. making what is now a 3K frame a 7-8K frame in the next few years... effectively removing carbon frames from the general publics reach... granted there wouldnt be near as much carbon used to build a case in comparison to a bike... but still.. pricey....

maybe using carbon for only the tubes... that might work... but how sick would a carbon shell look!!!!!! that would be the coolest thing ever.. no leather..'cept for pockets and trim or what not...guess that comes from the biker in me... if you got carbon you have to show it of!!!

I looked at Carbon Fiber before and the tubes were insanely expensive and the weight savings not as much as I had thought it would be. Of course that was sourcing them in the USA. Here there are a lot of other choices and we are working with a company that does Carbon Fiber cues which are virtually indestructible. So perhaps there is a chance to do something with them with cases.

The cues are available but I am not willing right now to shell out the $700 plus each to prove my point. They are CBZ cues in Taiwan. Another brand is Sugarline Cues and both of them are in short supply and expensive.

I went to Taiwan for the WPC and I shot with the CBZ cues. The maker has been asked to provide cues to the USA with no signature on them for reasons you can probably guess. He has refused to do so.

They won't sell to me for less than $6-700 a cue, no need as they stay close to sold out at those prices. Some of the cues that CBZ makes are selling for $1000-$2000 and that's in US Dollars. And this is in a country that may very well have more high end cues in more people's hands per capita than any place except Japan. Lets just say that the Taiwanese player and cue buyer is sophisticated and well aware of what a high end good hitting cue is. So for CBZ to be getting these prices speaks volumes to the hit and quality.

I thought I could get some of the cues I mentioned for about $300 each but it wasn't happening while I was there and I didn't have time to go looking for the Sugarline brand.

So, until I feel like spending the dollars or I can work a trade on the cues I am not investing that much just to prove what I already know.
