A couple of weeks ago, I posted a thread in the wanted section for people to help me do a write up for my website. The winner was to receive a free cue from me.

I received seven write-ups and have chosen one to use for my website. That person will receive a cue from me. I've also decided to let the members here vote for a winner. The winner in the poll will also receive a free cue from me. If the same winner is chosen, the second place finisher here will receive the cue.
The other entries will all receive 25% off a cue from me if they order it by the end of this year.

Below are the entries. Please vote for which you think is the best. They are not in any particular order and I may have modified them slightly. I had to break them up into three posts, so please read them all before you vote.

This poll will be up for five days, which means it should end sometime Sunday morning.


I'm ending this now. I got a lot of complaints about two people sending out mass mailings asking for votes. I will pick both of the winners by Sunday. It's the only fair thing to do. I'll still give out the two cues and I'll let the others have a discount. Unfortunately, since some can't play fair, I don't know what else to do. I'd of expected people to ask their friends to vote for them. There's not much I can do about that, but two people sent out messages to multiple recipients and both included other people who had entries in the contest.

I'm sorry, but I don't know what else to do. I tried to make this as fair as possible and put the vote up here as a bonus for everybody that took the time to help me out. I had the winner I was picking narrowed down to four people. I will pick the two from there.

I think if you want this poll to be truly fair to the participants, it should be blind so that we cannot see the results. Whether we like to admit it or not, our voting WILL be biased based on that information. Just a thought.

I didn't know that was an option. I don't think I can change it at this point, so I'll have to leave it how it is.

Well gosh, knowing some of the other contestants are mass mailing in private asking for votes I better get on the ball. :(

Yeah, I heard the same thing. Wondering if Tony didn't put all entrants names down if one of us would have received a mass mail asking for our vote on another person's entry directly.

I wonder if I can raffle off my vote - since some people need it that badly.:(

I thought this might happen, and it is sad that Tony is doing something very nice, and people just have to S**T on it.

Maybe Tony should just go ahead and put the entrants names next to the entries now, and let the popularity contest begin.
I do not need a cue that badly, but just wanted to have fun, and maybe help a nice guy out with his cue making business.

Nice to see some people didn't trust the value of their entry.

Tony, once again - GREAT JOB!!! Thanks for sharing your stories with me, and hope everything works out for the best.

Just saw your post edit. Sorry it had to go down like this. You deserve better, especially after truly doing something nice for AZB members here.

I believe you are taking the best action, and hope everything works out for your site, and all of the entrants. Since this is truly to help you and your cuemaking business. Sorry to see it tried to be something else.

see your project went the way of the 'Rep' system on here. Instead of something getting rewarded for it own merits, people are 'cheating', and you wonder why Pool can not become mainstream.

All, but #3 and #6 were too long and verbose, and not really structured right.
I thought #6 was direct, comprehensive, and presented in the best way.
 
That is sad. Cheating is not winning, and some lowlife just ruined things for all of us.

Thanks again for the opportunity to win a cue and help out a new cue maker. I think by you picking out the two you like best will probably be the only fair way now.
 
I got a mass email asking me to vote for them. I had already voted for another entry so it didn't really matter. I would not have voted for this person anyways. I thought it was pretty pathetic and lame. I will not name names but they know who they are.

Tony I am sorry that this happened to you. I think you are doing a very cool thing and certain people's greed got the best of them. Good luck with everything.

I told Tony when he first said he was going to let people vote, Before this was ever posted, That this wouldn't be fair..

That there would be some voting just because they knew the person. When I received a PM asking me to vote for them, Not knowing I was in the contest too, I decided to ask a few members if anyone had asked them to vote as well..

Once they told me yes, They had been asked too, It was pretty clear this way wasn't going to be fair and if you wanted a shot to win then you better start asking for votes as well.

It is a shame that Tony couldn't have this go down right, But I knew it would be this way from the start.

I was one of the ones who sent out PM's asking for votes.. At least I can admit it. But this was not done by me until I found out two other members were doing the same thing. and it was clear if you wanted a shot to win against this you better do the same. So I did..
