Frog and Tadpole Jump Cues

I went full phenolic tip/ferrule combination on one of your frogs
but I have told you this before. I will say that it jumped amazing after that.
With access to about any jump cue I constantly went back to my modified frog. Nothing like it. It had about 2.5 in. inserted and about 1.5 in. protruding.

I always liked Robin's jump cues. Here is my 2 cents for what it's worth. The overhaul I believe that needs to happen is to slim down the tapper on the butt section and get away from the two separate jump cues Tadpole/Frogger I am not trying to reinvent the wheel here but I believe a superior design that's similar to the Tadpole with and available extension for longer jumps.
Something like $90 for the New & Improved Tadpole with Frogger extension.

The Frog and the Tadpole are both the same now 40 inches. The only differance is color the tadpole is black the frog is green.
The old days I had the extension but it isn't needed anymore.

I still have my original Tadpole with brass ferrule and original tip, it works great on short cross table "Dart" style jumps.

Please offer joint protectors when you upgrade the cue, I remember sawing off the head of a bolt and using locktite to glue the threaded part into a female joint protector to make one for my shaft.

Thank you

I have a joint protector that fits it perfectly. It's a standard pin. Of course, mine is one of the new ones, got them last month, so maybe the joint was different on the old ones.

Well when your ready for a trade in...I will upgrade you with a $30 credit.
The new ones are SOOOO much better.
Great idea on the joint protectors I do get asked that alot!

Well, I'm doing it. I'm outlining my “first video” on the Jump shot.
It will be included in each “order I get for the Frog or Tadpole” at my website only, free of charge. I'm keeping the busines, My order has been placed I should be getting the Frogs and Tadpoles in about 30 days.
The Jump Shot is my expertise...WHY? Well how many years have I been in Vegas teaching that shot to the best and to the least of players.
I have taught and I have been taught, I have tons of info for “Every Level” of players. I do not claim to be the best jumper, but I can teach the shot; I believe I have seen it all!!!

The reason it's free, is to boost sells of course for the Frog and Tadpole. I have no interest in selling it...but I also don't want to put it on YouTube, my goal move product. So if you know anyone needing help on the jump shot, the video will be coming out with each order.
I only ordered 125 of each jump cue so have them place their order soon.
This video is offered at my website only, http://www.robindodson.com/The_Frogjumpcuenew.htm Video will come with each order starting now.
Thank you,
Robin

They have been around for EVER its time for a face-lift I could really use your insights.

What's new out there that blows the Jump shot apart?

The frog and tadpole was around when you could only use a leather tip...I never went pheonlic ferrule-tip as one I didn't think it was legal. They still have a pheonlic tip only.

Anyway, I'm looking for insights so I can upgrade the cues to the 2011 year.

Any insights? This is what they look like now http://robindodson.com/The_Frogjumpcuenew.htm

thank you,

Robin

I have a fabulous custom Mark Bear with a purple heart shaft. Perhaps consider having a purple heart shaft as an option.

So I came up with this idea, I'm going to include a "Jump Shot Tips Video", it will be in each Jump cue ordered at my website.

Robin

I know the shot after years of being at the billiard shows...and Lord knows I can teach it.
Have I taught any of you?

I'm really having fun writing this shot all out! It really is a great shot if you excute it properly.
I remember my first year of teaching in Vegas selling the Frog and Tadpole.
I would show everyone what they were doing wrong...boy was that a bad idea...I threw my back out.
I will demonstrate the wrong way and the correct way to jump so you can see (I only have to do it once) but so many players that can't jump its 9 times out of 10 because of technique http://robindodson.com/The_Frogjumpcuenew.htm
I will also be showing how to aim, and how to give yourself the best chance to make the ball...tall order I know but I make em...not everytime but I do have a plan!!!

Jump cues

I have a thing for jump cues and cases. I study them endlessly. I bought my very first jump cue from you in Vegas, a frog (right after you got rid of the brass ferrule). I practiced with it, and the first time I used it in competition, which was a money game, I made 6 out of 7 jump shots, and got a good hit on the one I didn't make. I was ecstatic, because I am only 5'7" tall and always had a bit of a problem with jump shots.

It had a right feel to it, but the problem was anything 5-6" or closer, and I could not either get over the ball or would not make the shot. Now, I use a stroke shot, not the dart when I jump. I have only used the dart a couple of times.

I've had a couple more jump sticks since then, one a real light one, but no accuracy with it. I now use a J&J break/jump cue with the phenolic ferrule/tip, and it does pretty good, but accuracy can be a problem sometimes.

I ordered an X-Jumper for a friend, when they were being made, and I tried it out before giving it to my friend. It was, without a doubt, the best jump cue I have ever laid my hands on (and yes, I have tried the Jacoby jump cue). The tip, made with liquid leather and a patent pending on it, was the best jump tip I have ever come across in 49 years of playing. The tip was as hard or harder than phenolic tips. It can jump close with better accuracy than any other jump cue I have tried. (I have probably tried about a dozen other jump cues, and yes the Predator Air too).

It had amazing control to it, and I have first dibs if my friend ever sells it.

Since Richard is no longer in the business, if you could get rights to the ferrule/tip combination he had for the X-Jumper, you would make a mint, IMO.

The Frog and Tadpole are both 40 inches now so they can jump closer, weight is gone.
I haven't tried a tip ferrule combination yet. I'm not sure who Richard is?

I purchased a Frog appx two years ago but never used it in a actual game because of poor technique.

I've lost a few games which I believe the proper use of the Frog/Tadpole would have made a difference and I can't wait to view the video.

I'm happy to hear you decided to stay in business, Robin, and I hope sales skyrocket with the help of the video.

Thank you Ray, I'm almost finished with the technique portion now I'm on aiming and cue ball placement.
Roy use to always say just close the deal and move on, but I would want to teach more of what the jump shot could do...now is my chance!!!

I've been getting a lot of feedback for the video...then btoneill told me about a way to put it straight onto the internet with a password.
Just so you know, everyone on AZbilliards will get that password when I'm finished (just ask you don't share it, I really do want to sell jump cues). The Frog or Tadpole purchase is not necessary...you guys have been such great supporters of my carreer. I know the info in my head will give a little insight to the jump shot for everyone here.

This is cool, I just found this on line http://www.bca-pool.com/industry/hof/ind02-06.shtml my name will go down in history :)

Well I finished up the writing...now onto the taping...course the woman in me says I have to lose 10 pounds first and since I've been saying that for 10 years I think I should just say "lights, camera and action". I'm hoping the teaching video on jumping will be ready by the time the order of Frogs and Tadpoles arrive.
my website. http://robindodson.com/The_Frogjumpcuenew.htm

The Jump Shot: If I taught you to jump could you write a little something about it (small paragraph). I'm finishing up the video and I would like to add a few good stories.
Shoot me over a message, thank you.

Robin

Great News!

Wow!

The wait is almost over. Can't wait to view the video, Robin.

Any plans to expand and create another billiard video?
