Here's another with slightly different veneers from the one that ended last Sunday night.

Ending this Sunday 2/15, I'm auctioning off a 1969 Burton Spain short splice pool cue forearm blank. My guarantee is simple, 100% satisfaction or return for complete refund. If the buyer feels that their dissatisfaction is due to a misdescribed auction, I refund all the postage as well.

This auction won't disappear suddenly. I don't end auctions early. I don't have items for sale locally. This auction will run to the end. Interested buyers will all have an equal chance to bid and win the auction.

Please let me know if I can be of assistance.

Thanks

Thanks for that. I can think of several cue makers who would do a great job around this old Spain shortie. Ernie (incredibly) is close to finished with mine and it is a classic! I'll show you when it's done.

Thanks again

This might be a dumb question but why is his half blanks so expensive? other then it being rare and i guess he is dead

Major factors that effect the value of collectibles are quality, reputation, age, condition and availability. The price these blanks achieve is totally free market (a no reserve auction with a small base opening bid) and determined only by supply and demand.

The fact that Burton died does effect the value of his work as upon his death his body of work becomes a truly limited edition. Nobody may know exactly how much of his work he produced during his lifetime, but what is known is that there will never be any more made.

Speaking of Burton Spain's death, it happened way too soon. Burton loved his craft and we all got a little cheated by the fact that his time was cut short. One can only imagine the high art Spain would be producing if he were around today.

I know there were some Gus blanks in Balabushka's garage when Tascerella bought it out, maybe there were Spain blanks there as well and maybe Tasc has some, but if he does, he sure isn't making them available (that I know of). Same with Hercek, maybe he has some Spain blanks, but again, he sure doesn't seem to be using them or making them available in any way (again that I know about). Other than those two, I can't imagine anybody else really having any unused 1960s Burton Spain spliced blanks. I couldn't believe it when Ernie showed me these. So, as auctioneers say when extorting bids, "When are you going to see another one of these?"

Thanks

Kevin

Yeah, I'd prefer not to give away where it is today, but it is one.... and that's all I could get out of the picture... LOL

Last Call

This one is at $430 with an hour to go. I think with an hour to go last week's auction was at somewhere around $600.

All bids in?

Thanks

Kevin

Thanks

Thanks everyone for your comments and bids.

I'll let the high bidder reveal what maker this blank is going to, but it is going to be a very special stick.

Thanks again

Kevin
