This is a Herman Rambow cue I got from Jack Madden. It is in great shape and has never been refinished. He polished up the joint and cleaned up around the inserts. He also put new ivory ferrules and new tips. The cue has been well taken care of and is in remarkable shape. everything is staight and true. If you have any questions, call.

Good looking cue. It would appear this cue has had some work done to it, possibly major work. What's the story?

Do you say that because that flourish is so close to the joint collar?

What's the overall length on the cue?

I will put all the specs for this cue up in a little while, as soon as I am able to get in my chair. this cue has never been refinished. I got it from my friend Jack Madden. He told me he has had it about 15 years. The joint has been claned up and polished and the inserts were cleaned up. It has had some wax put on it to protect it. It also has new Ivory ferules and new tips.Look at the butt cap that is pure Ivory and has never ben messed with. This is just a clean old cue that has been taken care of.Call me with any questions.

I've played with this cue a couple of times and it's friggin sweet, it's also the inspiration for this Madden

Good call Mr. Hoppe. I'm also curious about the flourish right up against the collar - that isn't at all normal for a Rambow, but major surgery would explain.

I'm curious what is flourish?

it's the engraved design on both sides of the "Name" at the top of the forearm and the one closest to the joint seems to be "touching" the joint collar............

sorry for the duplicate.............

The important thing is to get an answer - the price is in the right area, if it's original. The seller claims it is, but no response to the original question about major work done to it.

If you are an interested buyer, it looks like you'll need to contact Jack Madden to get the story on this cue.

Trying to figure out what type of work was done to result in the outcome:confused:

Wouldn't handle replacement/supplementation result in taller points? ?

I thought I answered the question in my discription. The cue has not been refinisned and if you have quetions you are welcome to call me or Jack if you are a serious buyer. But just to question my integrety, it just isn't right.I have never done that to anyone on AZ and I never will.

Tommie - it's totally right to ask you a question about an oddity in a cue, prior to dropping $3K. No one questioned your integrity. A serious buyer would be an idiot to ignore the fact that the flourish is right up against the collar.

Jack is a stand-up guy who everyone knows and I'm sure at some point he'll comment here that the cue is un-restored and Rambow must have just started writing too close to the collar. Also, you've posted very clear pictures of the ring-work and the pin - these are dead giveaways as to Rambow's work. Anyone who has any Rambow joint pics stored on their computer should pipe in. I have some stored, but I'll leave this to others.

Seriously Tommie, no one but Fatboy has the ability to just jump on a cue for $3K without asking a few questions first when they see something like this.

edited to add: I'm actually very interested in the cue. I'm dying to hear someone say that Rambow used a variety of pins and this one, as well as the ring thickness and location, matches what they've seen....and to hear Jack Madden respond that no restoration has been done. But I think that if those two things occur, you'll have no shortage of suitors.
