Newsflash.....the weather forecast is for constant sunshine and the traffic jams are still rampant. The price of beer is even dearer than before. Most pubs are pretty good but most night clubs are full of 'up themselves' trendy posers. The muppet taxi drivers still don't know where they're going.

You definitely won't get mugged or attacked walking back to your rooms in the street at 3 in the morning or have your wallet or cue stolen in the venue or anywhere else. The monorail metro system is up and running on some routes and is cheap as chips.

The price of golf at championship golf courses is at last dropping but none of us have got any money left

it will be streamed but no idea yet on which medium,
as far as brackets, i hope WPA will have plans for this, in any case i'll update live from the venue :thumbup:

That aerial photo (post #25) of those four tables in Millenium Avenue Billiards Dubai which you referred to isn't actually the qualifying tournament arena as such Joey/Jay. Those four are mainly used at practice tables. The tables used for most qualifying matches were to the left of that behind a glass wall.

As I was too busy with work and too devoid of ability or practice to have any kind of a serious go, I only managed to make it up to Dubai from Abu Dhabi to play in one qualifier personally, but it was obvious that the venue was well equipped to stage the qualifiers.

Qualifying tournament organising can be quite tricky here as the loose and unpredictable "Dubai Time" attitudes make "Manila Time" look like a rigidly inflexible exact science and it would be easy for the organiser to unknowingly upset people. However Doug is a past master at the diplomacy and savvy necessary to make things still go smoothly and seemed to be doing a great job as always.

The Fujairah venue (post# 29) for the actual World Championship will no doubt be great too. Unfortunately I'm working and playing in an important golf event which may decide the final regional Order of Merit for the season so I might only manage up there for one day or evening of the event at most.
