Full splice vs full core

Coring is used to stabilize and/or adjust weight with no cosmetic impact. It runs the entire length of the part it runs through, thereby giving added stability to the entire length. Full splice also contributes to stability and weight distribution but does not extend as far as a cored part. It does have a cosmetic value. A full splice also eliminates the 'A' joint, which could be why they are considered to be stiffer. I have yet to build my own splice, so I haven't dealt with it yet or been able to test two otherwise identical cues with that one difference. There are plenty on here who know more from their own experience.

Note that the two techniques are not mutually exclusive. I.e., you can have a full spliced cue with a cored forearm and/or handle.
 
I use a full length core in a full splice blank pretty often, usually to add weight. Does anyone else do this? Is there any reason not to? They are VERY stiff.

You mean aside from all the extra work?:) No, I guess not. It should be straight in another 100 years or so.

A full-splice usually has a denser wood at the bottom forked onto the front, thereby making it "stiffer".
A sectional cue can be made stiffer, it just needs some imagination.
Sorry, I don't like full cores .
I believe in opposing woods .
